The cast of “Yellowstone” is weighing in as the Season 4 premiere date draws nearer, and once again, things are not looking good for Jimmy (Jefferson White).
Star and executive producer Kevin Costner recently commented on a @Yellowstone Instagram post about Jimmy’s decision to defy John Dutton (Costner) and get back on a horse so as to rodeo again. The Instagram post already made things look pretty grim for Jimmy, but Costner raised the threat level to chilling.
“Pity the man who breaks a promise to John Dutton,” Costner wrote on the post.
‘Yellowstone’ Star Suggests Dutton Won’t Take Jimmy’s Broken Promise Lightly
The comment from Costner suggests that Dutton will likely lose his patience with Jimmy when he discovers that Jimmy has injured himself once again due to rodeo. In Season 3, Dutton offered to pay Jimmy’s hospital bills after a nasty rodeo accident. All he asked in return was that his employee stay away from rodeo from here on out.
But Jimmy, who had won a belt buckle and a girlfriend from his rodeo efforts, was reluctant to give it up. Add in an ultimatum from said girlfriend, Mia (Eden Brolin), that Jimmy stick with rodeo or lose her, and Jimmy decided to go against Dutton’s wishes. However, no sooner had he made that decision than he was thrown off a horse at the Dutton Ranch and knocked unconscious.
Fans have debated whether Jimmy will be alive and conscious in Season 4, and the trailers are offering no hints. But Costner’s comment raises the possibility that Jimmy will have to leave the Dutton Ranch, or worse.
Season 4 Premieres Sunday, Nov. 7
When Season 3 left off, Jimmy was not the only character in trouble. A series of attacks on the Dutton family had left Costner’s character bleeding by the roadside after a drive-by shooting. Beth Dutton (Kelly Reilly) had disappeared into the explosion that shook her office after her assistant opened a suspicious package. And Kayce Dutton (Luke Grimes) was fending off a pack of armed intruders at his office.
The Season 4 trailers have shown Rip Wheeler (Cole Hauser) coming across Dutton’s unconscious form and begging him not to die, but we don’t know yet how that turns out. As for what Rip will do to those responsible for the attack on his fiancée, Hauser’s own comments suggest the response will be ferocious.
But step one is figuring out who was behind the attacks. And as “Yellowstone” recently reminded fans, the Duttons have acquired quite the enemies list. Are old villains involved, or is Taylor Sheridan about to introduce some new ones for the new season?
There’s only one way to find out. The Season 4 premiere drops Sunday, Nov. 7 on the Paramount Network.
