As Yellowstone Ranch proprietor John Dutton, Kevin Costner is a rough and tough, aging cowboy doing his best to protect what is his.

Costner, now with three seasons of Yellowstone under his belt, has long been a Hollywood leading man. There are few actors in the world that can boast the accomplishments that Costner has to his name. With an acting career spanning 40 years, there isn’t much that the 66-year-old California native hasn’t done. The Hollywood A-lister has a bounty of awards and accolades that includes two Academy Awards and two Golden Globe Awards.

As if that weren’t enough, the Yellowstone star also fronts and plays guitar in a band he founded in 2007. Kevin Costner and Modern West have a unique country-rock sound that fans can’t get enough of. The group has done a world tour and just recently returned to playing live shows again after the COVID-19 pandemic quieted the live music scene.

Yellowstone Actor Talks Favorite California Meal

Away from the spotlight, however, the “Dances with Wolves” star is a pretty regular guy who loves his home state. In a recent interview with tourism organization, Visit California, Costner talks about everything he loves about the state. In a particularly interesting bit, he reveals his favorite fast food destination — and it is a California classic.

“Well, I got to tell you that I am pretty thankful for “In-n-Out,” he says when asked what his favorite splurge is. “When I have been gone a long time or when I just got to fill up — Thank God that thing is on the side of the road.”

The interviewer then asks what his standard In-n-Out Burger order is and the Yellowstone actor doesn’t hesitate.

“The Animal,” he quickly proclaims. He is referring to the “animal-style” burger dressing at the famous California fast-food restaurant.

Many Californians would agree with Costner’s choice as In-n-Out Burger is one of the most popular burger chains in the country.

Costner and his Yellowstone crew will be returning to our television sets in the near future with the show’s fourth season due this summer. We last see Costner’s John Dutton taking several gunshots to the chest from an unknown gunman. His status heading into the new season is up in the air though most fans think he survives the attack.

The rest of the Dutton family didn’t fare so well in the third season finale either. The status of the family is the show’s biggest mystery with a new season looming.
