It’s been a hell of a day for Outsiders and Yellowstone fans. Which are, as we know, one and the same. The Season 4 trailer is finally upon us, and it is glorious. Gripping. Gutting.
Kevin Costner agrees, and just like John, he’s a man of few words. But those few words always cut straight to the chase:
“I don’t know if you’re ready for this one,” Costner captions the trailer reveal on his official Instagram. His single choice of hashtag is perfect, tagging on: “#everybodypays.”
“Every. Body. Pays. has become the byline for Season 4 this month. The trailer’s reveal certainly makes it feel a fit, too. We now know that whoever ordered the assassination attempts on the Duttons at the end of Season 3 comes gunning for the entirety of their homestead, too. The Dutton Yellowstone Ranch is under fire, and several casualties pop up in the trailer that we’re simply not ready to see go down. Give it a watch – or, let’s be real, a re-watch – below:
“@Yellowstone Season 4 coming November 7th on @ParamountNetwork,” Costner reminds fans, as well. Can you feel it? Can you feel the need? Because oh man, the hype is real from fellow Yellowstone fans. The comments are pouring in over on Costner’s official Instagram, with gems like “My head’s still spinning!!! YIKES!!!” replies Gus G.
“LOOKING FORWARD TO THIS SEASON!!” echoes Marciel in all caps.
“Can’t wait… watch party at my house 11/7,” adds Laura D. Now we’re talkin’!
‘Yellowstone’ Season 4 Looks to be Kevin Costner’s Most Intense Performance Yet
While Seasons 1-3 have featured some of Costner’s absolute best work to date, the intensity of Season 4 looks to be bringing equal vigor out in the Hollywood legend – and then some.
Like series’ mastermind Taylor Sheridan, the actor has redefined the Western genre with both his past work and on Yellowstone. It’s hard to imagine any more iconic Western lead in this day and age than John Dutton, and it’s all due to Costner’s brilliant performance.
Kevin Costner will always be Kevin Costner, but the way he slips into the Dutton patriarch gives the character a life all his own. He disappears into the grit of the role; no easy feat for a Hollywood icon. When you’re watching John Dutton, you’re watching JD, not Costner. And we love ’em both for it.
Fascinatingly, the Season 4 trailer moves to “confirm” that JD’s adopted son, Jamie Dutton, isn’t responsible for the hits on his family. Many fans have suspected this (including this Outsider), but knowing we’ll be able to see his questionable dichotomy with his adoptive father play out is beyond promising. It’s certainly a more interesting choice than having Jamie go full-murderous-villain on his loved ones.
There’s no doubt, however, that Jamie has a role to play with how things move forward alongside his biological father, Garrett Randall. And we’ll find out everything starting November 7 when Yellowstone Season 4 premieres exclusively on Paramount Network.
