“Yellowstone” actor Luke Grimes wanted to kick that habit of smoking in his life. He says there’s a person in Hollywood that helped him.

Grimes, who plays Kayce Dutton on The Paramount Network drama, talked about the situation with Interview Magazine.

“Yeah, I only had, like, two days with him on Taken 2,” Grimes said. “[In the film] he was giving me the stink eye for his daughter being at my house. It was one of those scenes, you know? ‘What are you doing with my daughter?!’

“He’s very intimidating,” the “Yellowstone” star said of his famous co-star. “But offscreen, he’s such a nice, lovely guy. The gentle giant. Plus, he helped me quit smoking. He was walking around with a toothpick in his mouth one day and I was like, ‘Did you quit?’ And he told me about this book to read, which helped me quit smoking. So, thanks, Liam Neeson.”

Taken 2 came out in 2012. Grimes played Jamie Conrad while Neeson played Bryan Mills.

Right now, though, Grimes is focused on “Yellowstone” and who was responsible for taking shots at John Dutton, played by Kevin Costner.

The season opener is just around the corner, so Outsiders, get ready to rumble with the Dutton clan.

‘Yellowstone’ Star Gives Credit To Two Actors For Giving Him Inspiration

People look for role models in work as well as in life. When it comes to being an actor, Grimes points toward two actors who were inspirations.

Who were they? He revealed their names during a 2018 Contents magazine interview.

Grimes said Philip Seymour Hoffman and Paul Newman were two that he deeply connected with for his career.

“I understand they were very different,” he said, “but (they) always felt to me they were telling the truth and played characters I might one day be able to play.”

Grimes, 37, never had an opportunity to work with either Hoffman or Newman. Both actors are now deceased, but famed roles for Hoffman included “Capote” and for Newman, well, many. “Slap Shot” and “Cool Hand Luke” come to mind.

The actor has worked with Costner, Neeson, and Clint Eastwood.

Grimes Points Out What Is Difficult About Playing His Character on Show

Grimes has been around a number of heavyweight actors. So he’s learned a thing or two.

What, though, does he find difficult about playing Kayce? Before the third season of “Yellowstone” debuted, he and Kelsey Asbille, who played Monica Long, talked about their characters with Park City Television.

Grimes said that his difficulty comes from the fact that he loves Kayce.

“I think it’s the greatest character I’ve ever had the opportunity to play, and just doing him justice because I do think he’s such an awesome person,” he said.
