Yellowstone actress Jen Landon has quickly become a fan favorite on the show for her role as the tough-talking ranch hand, Teeter. But beforehand, Landon almost quit acting after a bad audition.
Despite being the only female cowboy in the bunkhouse crew, Teeter has shown she can more than hold her own. Landon’s superb portrayal of Teeter made its introduction onto the Yellowstone Ranch in the third and most recent season. Teeter is a foul-mouthed Texas cowgirl who is highly capable on the back of a horse or in a fight against a biker club. She more than earned the respect of her male counterparts and has even struck up a romance with fellow ranch hand Colby.
Despite the fan base’s love for Teeter, Jen Landon says she didn’t initially think she would get the part. In fact, Landon says in a recent interview that she considered giving up acting altogether after a poor audition.
In a segment called “Stories From the Bunkhouse,” Landon speaks with her fellow Yellowstone actors on playing Teeter. Landon says her audition for the part went so bad that she immediately called her agent with the intention to quit acting. She recalls the auditioning process in the interview and why she thought she “tanked” the audition.
“They called me in, I was super nervous and I didn’t think I was gonna get it, at all,” she says, according to Express. “I thought I tanked the audition. Apparently, I did not, but I thought I tanked it so hard.”
‘Yellowstone’ Actress Considers Quitting After ‘Tanking’ Audition
Landon says while auditioning with Yellowstone casting associates, she made a critical error that typically is a bad sign.
“I kept having the casting associate read the scene again,” she recalls. “It is also a big audition no-no for any actors who are watching.”
Landon says she then proceeded to call her agent with the bad news. The audition affected her so much that she thought it was the end of her promising career.
“I walked out and I called my manager like, ‘I’m quitting!’” she says. “‘I tanked! I’ve gotta become, like, a hooker or a writer after this, man. No more acting!’”
Thankfully, it was a bit of an overreaction from Landon. And the audition was actually a success that landed her on Yellowstone Ranch. Teeter is expected to become an even bigger part of the show moving into the fourth season and that is music to fans’ ears. Yellowstone watchers certainly hope we get more of the unusual love connection that brought Teeter and Colby together.
Yellowstone is expected to return with a Season 4 premiere date likely this summer. It is safe to say that fans grow more excited by the day as we wait for our favorite show to return.
