Fans of the hit Paramount Network series “Yellowstone” are over the moon with excitement with the recent prequel casting news.
The “Yellowstone” spinoff will be called “1883” and will show how the Dutton family came to settle in Montana. It will also tell the story of how the Duttons built a cattle ranching empire that we now know as the “Yellowstone” Ranch. The Paramount Network recently revealed major casting for the new series and fans could not be happier. The initial 1883 cast will consist of country music power couple Tim McGraw and Faith Hill playing the Dutton family. As if that weren’t big enough news, “1883” producers also revealed that legendary westerns actor Sam Elliott has also been cast in a prominent role. “Yellowstone” fans expressed their excitement for the news on social media and also other internet sites like Reddit.
“A lot of people don’t know this but there is a new federal law requiring Sam Elliot to star in this show,” a hilarious “Yellowstone” fan says.
Many fans have indeed been clamoring for Elliott to appear in the “Yellowstone” world. He is such a natural fit for the show that some fans wondered why he wasn’t already cast yet. The veteran western actor will play cowboy Shea Brennen in the prequel. His character is described as being handsome and “tough as nails” by the Paramount Network.
‘Yellowstone’ Fans Share Thoughts on Prequel Casting
“Sam Elliot not being put in a cowboy anything is literally a crime against humanity and punishable by death!” another fan writes.
Fans are super excited about the additions of Tim McGraw and Faith Hill to the “Yellowstone” prequel.
“Tim McGraw and Faith Hill are going to have natural chemistry considering they have been married for so long,” a Redditor says. “I have also loved Sam Elliott in everything I’ve seen him in.”
While Faith Hill does have some acting experience, her famous country singer husband has a little more. McGraw has had parts in “The Blind Side” and “Friday Night Lights” in the past. Hill has had parts in “Pearl Harbor” and “Dixieland.”
For their parts, the newly named “1883” cast members seem to be very excited about their new roles. Elliott says “Yellowstone” creator Taylor Sheridan is a big part of why he is joining the show.
“It all starts with the writing, and Taylor Sheridan is a brilliant writer,” the actor says. “I think the western genre speaks clearly to both of us. The classic struggles of man against man, man against nature, and man against himself. It’s all there, in 1883, and I’m honored to be a part of it.”
With the recent news regarding “1883” and the return on “Yellowstone” just months away, fans are on cloud nine. We can’t wait to see what Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, and Sam Elliott can do with their new show.
