‘Yellowstone’ TV: Fans Sound Off on Kayce and Monica’s Biggest Shortcomings in Raising Tate

“Yellowstone” fans are outraged by some parenting moments with Kayce and Monica.

If you’re a parent, you know that everyone has an opinion about how you should raise your kid. All the unsolicited advice can be super annoying. However, maybe you can release some of the frustration knowing that you’re not alone. In fact, no one is safe from judgment – not even fictional television show characters.

“Yellowstone” fans have always been vocal about which characters they love, which they love to hate, and their theories on how the show will play out. But they haven’t stopped there. They’re also happy to share their opinions on how “Yellowstone” characters Kayce and Monica should and shouldn’t parent their son Tate. During a recent Reddit thread fans weighed in about parenting on the show.

“I’d say they’re too lenient.” said one fan. “How many times did Kayce tell Tate to do or not do something and he disobeyed?”

The fan then talked about two instances on “Yellowstone” when Tate criticized the home he and his family lived in.

“And when Tate said, ‘Our home sucks’ to Kayce, all he did was say, ‘Do you know how hard your mom and I work for that home?’ Then Tate gets all weepy at Kayce’s tone of voice and runs off crying, ‘I can’t talk to you anymore.’ I would have grounded him for a week, at least, and given him the crappiest chores around the trailer on the rez to do for a month,” added the fan. “You think our home sucks, well, you can clean it up.”

The fan also talked about when Tate criticized the family home again to Monica. Monica didn’t get upset with or discipline Tate. The fan said that both Kayce and Monica need to be more strict with Tate.

“Someone needs to be a real adult in that family, and it shouldn’t be an eight year old kid,” said the fan.”

Are Yellowstone’s Monica And Kayce Bad Parents?

Another fan on the thread said that they thought Kayce gave Tate “pot gummy bears” during one episode. Fans were quick to point out that the candy was just regular gummy bears and did not contain anything out of the ordinary. Nevertheless, they said that Kayce was a “hothead” and criticized his parenting style.

We’re not going to weigh in on the parenting choices made by fictional characters. However, we will say that we love watching the show and the characters grow. And whether or not Kayce and Monica are ideal parents, Tate seems to be developing into a pretty good kid. We hope we can see more soon when season four of “Yellowstone” (finally) premieres.
