Relive this powerful glimpse into Beth & Rip’s first days after their engagement: a strong sign of what’s to come for these two Yellowstone lovers.

If there’s one couple we’re rooting for above all others on Yellowstone, it’s Rip & Beth. These two share the kind of “love on fire” that makes for timeless drama and entertainment. Much of their fire, however, comes from places just as dark as they are light.

These two intensely-troubled individuals have immense baggage, but tend to bring the best out in each other. And this is exactly why this key Season 3 exchange is so powerful for these two – and for audiences.

Within, we get our first true glimpse into the potential troubles ahead for Rip & Beth as a married couple. If these two survive into tying the knot – which we suspect they do – their marriage isn’t going to be any easier than their courtship. Be warned, as always, that there are dialogue spoilers ahead for Season 3 of Yellowstone.

A True Yellowstone Engagement

“That was a long night,” Beth smiles as a grizzled Rip returns home. The lovers exchange a few pleasantries as he sits down, before Beth unexpectedly asks with a smirk:

“Who’d you kill?”

This catches Rip completely off guard. “Don’t ask me that, Beth,” he finally replies, shaking his head. This rock-solid response then shocks Beth in return.

“Who’d you kill?” she asks again, this time without a smile.

“What’d I just say?” Rip replies, stone-faced.

“We don’t get to do that anymore,” Beth says carefully.

“What’s that?”

“Secrets… We don’t get those,” she states to her fiance.

Rip takes a moment to build his response.

“There’s things I do,” Rip finally replies, “then there’s things I have to get done. You don’t wanna know them.”

After another pause, Rip gives a vital statement on how he sees this sort of information:

“It’s not a secret, darlin’. It’s a favor.”

These “favors” come for and from Beth’s father. It’s a family affair, sure. But either Beth is going to have to be comfortable knowing the man she loves will not be altering his course – or Rip is going to have to learn how to open up without putting her in harm’s way. More so than she already is. It’s a difficult line to walk, but one these two are willing to attempt.

‘It’s not a secret, darlin’ – It’s a favor’
