On “Yellowstone,” Jimmy Hurdstrom (Jefferson White) is not a natural outdoorsman. Rescued by Rip Wheeler (Cole Hauser) from a drug-addled existence, he struggles at first to adapt to the ranching and cowboying life.
White, on the other hand, seems to have really taken to the starkly beautiful Western scenery that forms the show’s backdrop. The Iowa native recently posted a gorgeous snow-dusted picture of Yellowstone National Park to his Instagram account.
“Yellowstone National Park in 2021 on 120,” White captioned the picture.
‘Yellowstone’ Left Jimmy’s Fate Up in the Air
As Season 3 of “Yellowstone” ended, audiences watched Jimmy confronting a choice between his new rodeo success and barrel-racer girlfriend Mia (Eden Brolin) on one side, and John Dutton (Kevin Costner) and his fellow ranch hands on the other. At the hospital where Jimmy landed after a serious rodeo injury, Dutton told him to stay away from rodeo competition. But Mia, suggesting that Dutton treats Jimmy like just another one of his cattle, gave the ranch hand an ultimatum: either stick with the rodeo or lose her.
And so Jimmy found himself back at the ranch, climbing back onto a horse that would try desperately to throw him off. He needed to practice if he was going to keep Mia and stick with rodeo. There was just one problem: the horse eventually succeeded. Jimmy landed hard, then slumped to the ground, unconscious.
There was no one around to witness Jimmy’s accident. And it was unclear just how long he’d be out or what the damage would be. So Jimmy fans will be on the edge of their seats for the Season 4 premiere this November.
White Is a Friendly Presence on the Show
Since he is apparently handy with a camera, White has been a font of behind-the-scenes pictures from the “Yellowstone” set. He has snapped photos of Hauser, himself, Ryan actor Ian Bohen, Teeter actress Jen Landon, Colby actor Denim Richards, Walker actor Ryan Bingham and Lloyd actor Forrie J. Smith.
Moreover, not too long ago, White gamely jumped into the comments on a @Yellowstone Instagram post about Jimmy Hurdstrom, which had drawn a number of complaints from fans irate about the delay in the Season 4 premiere.
“Appreciate y’all!!” White posted. “Season 4 is worth the wait, I promise!!”
White also hosts the podcast “Welcome to the Yellowstone,” in which the energetic actor provides a steady stream of insights about all things “Yellowstone.” He’s obviously a fan of the show as well as a major part of it (though it’s unclear what White’s participation in the “Yellowstone” spinoff “6666” means for his character on the original show).
Still, White’s picture from Montana, taken this year, can only augur well for Jimmy’s fate in Season 4. Fans will just have to hang on until November.
