‘Yellowstone’ TV Star Cole Hauser Announces Season 5 of Show Is Being Worked on, Filming Could Start Any Day

Filming on Season 5 of “Yellowstone” is supposed to begin sometime this month, Rip Wheeler actor Cole Hauser told an interviewer in March.

In a conversation with Kathryn Walt Hall on Hall Wines’ Virtual Happy Hour, Hauser revealed that series co-creator Taylor Sheridan was already working on the scripts for Season 5. And he said the cast would be back to filming “sometime in July.”

“Taylor’s working on it right now,” Hauser said. “And I think we will be back sometime in July. I’m looking forward to getting back to Montana and… Season 5. I mean, Season 5 is gonna be wonderful. I mean, the way we ended Season 4 – I can’t give too much away. But the way Season 4 ends, I think the audience… I think you’ll be happily surprised with a lot of things.”

As Season 3 Ended, Things Were Looking Grim

On “Yellowstone,” Hauser plays John Dutton’s (Kevin Costner) enforcer Rip, who is also the fiancée of Dutton’s daughter Beth (Kelly Reilly). And as Season 3 ended, Rip had begun to sense that something was seriously wrong. He couldn’t reach Dutton, who had been shot by the roadside. Or Beth, who had disappeared into a cloud of smoke and flames as a bomb engulfed her office. He couldn’t even reach Kayce (Luke Grimes), who was fending off a pack of intruders at his office. To make matters worse, when he called Jamie Dutton (Wes Bentley), the adopted Dutton son told him not to call anymore and hung up.

Fans will be glad to hear that they have some pleasant surprises in store for them, because things were looking seriously grim for the Dutton ranch when the series last left off. Some actors wouldn’t even confirm that their characters survived to see Season 4.

Hauser Said ‘Yellowstone’ Cast Is Like Family

But the cast’s no-spoilers pact is just another sign that they take the show seriously. And Hauser said one byproduct of their devotion to “Yellowstone” is that they have coalesced as a family through their shared time in Montana.

“For us as actors, and I think I can speak for everybody, including Kevin – Kelly Reilly, Wes Bentley, Luke Grimes, Gil Birmingham – everybody that’s a part of it, I mean, we come together. This is now going into our fifth year,” Hauser said. “So you know, we come together as a family, and we hang out on the ranch even when we’re not filming, and ride horses, and fish, and do everything that Montana has to offer.”

Indeed, as both Hauser and Birmingham have pointed out, Sheridan has made the sweeping Montana landscape a major character on the show. And fans can tune in for more gorgeous landscape and epic drama this November when “Yellowstone” returns for Season 4.
