Kelly Reilly, who plays Beth Dutton on “Yellowstone,” is sharing her experience with a virtual Sundance Film Festival for “Eight for Silver.”
Reilly’s character on “Yellowstone” is the daughter to John Dutton, played by Kevin Costner.
In the film, Kelly Reilly co-stars in the horror flick with Boyd Holbrook, Alistair Petrie, and Simon Kunz. “Eight for Silver” is based in the late 1800s, where a man arrives in a remote country village. He gets there to investigate an attack by a wild animal. But the man discovers a deeper, sinister force that has everyone within its grip.
Reilly mentions her movie’s co-stars along with director Sean Ellis in this social media post.
“Eight for Silver” is scheduled to premiere at the Sundance Film Festival on Jan. 30, then be released on Jan. 31 in the United States.
Kelly Reilly Says She Knew A Secret About Beth Dutton
As for her role on “Yellowstone,” Kelly Reilly says that she knew a secret about Beth Dutton since the show’s initial season. It all has to do with Beth’s rivalry with Jamie Dutton, played by Wes Bentley.
“I knew about what had happened between Beth and Jamie from season one,” Reilly said. “Taylor [Sheridan] has this whole thing planned out in his head. I mean, obviously, when he writes, I think he’s very open to things. It almost writes itself.”
But Kelly Reilly wasn’t totally sold about what the deal between Beth and Jamie was all about.
“I was like, ‘OK, there’s enough for her to be fierce about him, but there’s something deeper,'” she said. “‘There’s something else. There’s something really at the core of it, something really painful.’
Reilly Needed To Know More About The Rivalry Issues
“I needed to know what that thing was in order to play these scenes with him,” Kelly Reilly said. “This isn’t just sibling rivalry. Taylor told me. He told me what it was.”
(Note: The following takes place in Season Three of “Yellowstone.”)
As a teenager, Beth (portrayed by Kylie Rogers in this scene) gets pregnant and asks Jamie to help her. Jamie drives her to a Native American medical clinic to get an abortion.
But the only way that Beth could get the procedure done is by getting sterilized, therefore keeping her from having other children. Jamie agrees to the aborton on Beth’s behalf but does not tell her about the sterilization portion.
Beth finds out about getting sterilized after the abortion. This is what fuels the grudge between Beth and Jamie on the show.
