For fans of the popular television drama “Yellowstone,” Ryan Bingham is only the ex-convict, turned ranch hand named Walker.
However, what some fans might not know is that Bingham is also a very talented and popular musician. In fact, he helps “Yellowstone” co-creator Taylor Sheridan select songs that are used in the show.
During an interview with the Paramount Network in 2019, the musician gave fans of the show a behind-the-scenes look at what his life as a musician is really like. Some of the details he shared involve what he likes to do before he takes the stage for a performance.
“You always have to play to the room. …,” the “Yellowstone” star said of getting ready to perform for a live audience. “We usually make a set list, but all depends on those first few minutes on stage of what’s going to happen.”

Before he takes the stage, Ryan Bingham – like so many other musicians – has a “pre-show ritual.” Here’s what he had to say about his: “Pre-show ritual usually involves a shot of whiskey at some point.” Honestly, that’s not a bad way to start a show – for the performers or the audience.
In addition to talking about his pre-show ritual, “Yellowstone” star Ryan Bingham also talked about his band and other aspects of life as a touring musician.
“I’ve got a real good crew with me. I got a great band and they’re a lot of fun to be around,” he said.
In fact, Bingham and company enjoy their time together off of the stage.
“There’s always backstage shenanigans and things like that we’re always getting into,” the “Yellowstone” star shared.
Getting to perform his music in front of his fans is something Ryan Bingham enjoys.
“Playing live, there’s a lot of energy that’s created by the band,” he also said. “And then, also, when we have 15,000 people out there that’s a lot of energy coming at you. There’s a lot of love in the room.”
His success in his music career is not something that Ryan Bingham takes for granted. He loves what he gets to experience while touring with his band and playing live for his fans.
“I don’t take it for granted one day I get to play the guitar and play these songs for a living. I feel very lucky,” the “Yellowstone” actor said. “There’s good nights and bad nights out there, like in anything, but when those nights are special, there is something that you just can’t get anywhere else.”
