Yellowstone‘s own Malcolm Beck, Neal McDonough, will produce and star in Drops of Jupiter from newcomer Dominic Scott Kay.

Neal McDonough is set to take a chance on first-time feature writer and fellow actor Dominic Scott Kay’s vision. As per Deadline, the film will examine “the deep connection between a blind boy named Lion (Kay) and an Australian girl with hemophilia named Eloise, watching as the pair live vicariously through each other’s perspectives.”

Kay wrote Drops of Jupiter during the COVID-19 quarantine. Sometime after, he brought his script to the Yellowstone star, a friend and colleague. The two actors have quite the resume together. First, they met for Steven Spielberg’s action caper, Minority Report, way back in 2002.

Then, the duo would reunite for Red Stone, for which Deadline also broke Neal McDonough’s involvement in late 2020. It was one of the first SAG films to enter production after COVID began ramping down, the trade cites.

The Yellowstone star plays Boon within and is ramping up for a sequel that will bear his character’s name. Boon, described as a “henchman for Southern crime lord Jed Haywood (Michael Cudlitz),” is assigned to “track Motley (Dash Melrose), who is on the run from Jed” for the aptly-titled sequel, Boon.

“However, Boon has just lost his brother, and only has 10 hours to bring Motley in and get to the cemetery. Over the course of one day, both Motley and Boon go on a spiritual journey as their fate brings them together for a climactic showdown,” Deadline cites.

Dominic Scott Kay, however, will not return as Danny Adams. The sequel does not yet have a release date.

Neal McDonough: From ‘Yellowstone’ to ‘Red Stone’ to ‘Drops of Jupiter’

As for Drops of Jupiter, McDonough will take on the role of Dia. He’s king of a world known as Tara in Kay’s “romantic psychological fantasy.” He will also produce the picture together with his wife, Ruvé McDonough.

“Knowing Dominic for as long as we have, we could not be more excited or blessed to partake on this journey together,” the McDonough’s say in a joint statement per Deadline. “We are so proud to be producing a script like this and are really looking forward to watching these words come to life on screen.”

The Yellowstone actor and his wife expect Drops of Jupiter to be “a magical journey for all of us!”

Neal McDonough has the credits to back up such a claim, too. Fans know and love to hate him as Yellowstone‘s own Malcolm Beck. But with his work as Dum Dum Dugan in the Marvel Cinematic Universe coupled with his turns in RED 2, Flags of Our Fathers, Justified, Altered Carbon, and American Horror Story, McDonough has become an action staple.

The actor is currently filming a new Resident Evil film, as well.

As for Yellowstone, fans saw the Beck Brothers get what they deserved in Season 2. While we saw Malcolm’s brother, Teal, die on-camera, the same isn’t true for McDonough’s character. Could we see him return down the line?
