The young Yellowstone star Brecken Merrill took to his social media page on Saturday to offer an opinion that many of us just so happen to agree with. The young star says that westerns are the best genre in the film and television industry.

For fans that may not know, Brecken Merill is well-known for his role on the Paramount Network hit show, Yellowstone. In the series, Merrill plays the young and curious Tate Dutton. Tate often spends his time on the Yellowstone Ranch observing ranch hands tending to their business.

However, he also spends a lot of time with his grandfather on the show. His grandfather just so happens to be Dutton family patriarch John Dutton. The character most notably portrayed by the legendary Kevin Costner. After spending that much time with Costner, there’s no doubt that he may have influenced the young actor just a little bit.

And on Saturday evening, Brecken Merrill posted a snap from an article in The Wall Street Journal business section. The title of the article is “Hollywood Renews Love for Westerns: The Good, the Bad and the Binge-Worthy.” The article says that the western genre is as “American as apple pie” and that it resonates with pandemic audiences. There’s no doubt about that, as Yellowstone has exploded onto the scene over the course of the last two years.

The Wall Street Journal story also mentions the Yellowstone spinoff shows on the way.

Meanwhile, Merrill chimes in with his two cents. He calls the article a “nice write-up” in addition to calling westerns the best.

“A nice write up in the @wsj today!” Merrill wrote on Instagram. “(Of course, we already knew westerns are the BEST!) 🤠🐴”

Fans Respond to Yellowstone Star Brecken Merrill

Brecken Merrill has without a doubt become one of the fan-favorite characters in Yellowstone. And as a result, the 12-year-old actor has drawn in quite the following on social media. On Instagram alone, Merrill has nearly 21,000 followers.

Many of those fans and followers took the time to interact with the young cowboy’s post on Saturday. In addition to the post racking up more than 530 likes in only a couple of hours, fans also sent replies to him in the comments section.

One fan wrote, “Love the love btw grandfather and grandson😍.” Similarly, another fan says, “Keep up the great work honey! You’re very talented. My husband and I love the show and look forward to the next season. Take care sweetie!♥️”

Most people in the comments seem to agree, however, that we need more westerns in our life.
