If you’re a fan of Yellowstone, and more specifically Luke Grimes, then you know how rare it is to see photos of him behind-the-scenes. The actor doesn’t use any social media (who can blame him?), and hardly ever features in photos as a result. So to see young Brecken Merrill in a BTS photo with his Yellowstone dad (Grimes, who plays Kayce Dutton) and mother, Kelsey Asbille (who plays Monica Dutton) is a rarity, indeed.
Within, Merrill celebrates both this on-screen kin and his real family. Up first is the Yellowstone bunch:
“Several of you requested pics of me with my onscreen parents. Here is a shot of #lukegrimes and @kelseyasbille with me at the beginning of Season 1,” he adds. See? Fans have to request photos of this trio together off-set, or we’d never see them!
Of the event, Merrill says that “Luke took us fishing to get to know each other. I ate a worm that day! 🤮🤣.” Now there’s an excellent tidbit.
“The second pic is my mom @kristyphillipsauthor nerding out over the #breyerhorse Set Dec put in Tate’s room,” the young Yellowstone star continues. Such a childhood classic! Freak-out absolutely warranted.
‘Yellowstone’s Brecken Merrill Brings BTS Goodness Before Season 4
For a bit more context on Merrill’s Sunday post, let’s take a look back at his first in the series.
“It’s Sunday, and I know we’re all wanting #yellowstoneseason4,” the Tate Dutton actor posted last Sunday. Don’t freak out, though, as there’s no official Season 4 release date hiding in his post. He couldn’t reveal it even if he knew!
“I can’t tell ya when it will start, but I can give you a little something to tide you over,” Merrill promised instead. As for said promise, the Yellowstone star said he would “post a #bts photo” from his “Yellowstone adventures over the years… Every Sunday until Season 4!” And so far – he’s delivering excellently!
How’s that for a deal? Especially now that we know not to expect Yellowstone Season 4 until Fall, perhaps not ’til late November! Fans are eager for anything and everything Season 4 regardless, however, so Merrill’s Sunday promise was a sight for sore eyes. It is this week, too!
Check out his first round of behind-the-scenes shots of Tate himself and Lloyd’s Forrie J. Smith on horseback right here.
“This is one of my first riding lessons back before we started shooting season 1,” Merrill says in the former Instagram photos. “@forriejsmithcowbo was running around the arena living his best life! Look at that smile” he continues of the set.
We’re already looking forward to what next Sunday brings, young man! Enjoy it – and thanks for spreading the Yellowstone love, Brecken Merrill!
