While the world waits to find out the fate of the Duttons, Brecken Merrill is looking back at one of his favorite scenes.

On hit television series “Yellowstone,” Merrill plays a young cowboy in training Tate Dutton to great acclaim. Tate is the grandson of series protagonist John Dutton, played admirably by legendary actor Kevin Costner. He is the song of Kayce and Monica Dutton and he can typically be found observing the ranch hands or hanging with his grandfather.

Merrill has had a number of memorable scenes as the ever-curious and observant Tate Dutton. Who can forget his battle with a rattlesnake inside of a drainage tunnel? Tate would win the battle with the snake and his father cut off the snake’s rattle as a keepsake.

In season two of the show, Tate is kidnap by a Montana Militia in a power play to force John Dutton into action. After being gone for a couple of days, Kayce recovers his son who appears to have had a tough time with his captors.

Another great scene from the show saw Tate fall into a river only to be saved by his grand father. Tate has certainly had his share of experience through the series and Merrill plays the character to perfection. Tate is sure to make waves in season four as we learn which of the Dutton clan will carry on.

Brecken Merrill Shares the Screen With Kevin Costner

Merrill recently took to social media to share one of his favorite scenes from the show so far. It is a simple scene with just he and Costner as they watch Tate’s new horse buck around the ranch. John asks his grandson what he wants to name his new steed and Tate doesn’t hesitate, naming his horse “Lucky.”

“Naming a horse,” Merrill writes in the post’s caption space.

With more than 19,000 Instagram followers, Merrill has a growing social media presence and an expanding fan base. His horse naming post brought him more than 1,000 “likes” along with dozens of comments.

It is far from the only time the actor has taken to social media to interact with his fans. Just last year he put out a hilarious Instagram post using his Yellowstone character to show how 2020 started and how it is going.
