‘Yellowstone’ TV: Was Beth Dutton’s Mom’s Death Really Her Fault?

We are still several weeks away from the return of the hit Paramount Network series “Yellowstone” to our television sets and our lives.

Fans simply cannot wait for their favorite show to come back — but they don’t really have a choice in the matter. So to pass the time, “Yellowstone” fans are doing what they do best and that is talking about “Yellowstone.” Social media sites and message board forum sites, like Reddit, have become the place the be for fans of the modern western show.

Watchers love to share their theories and hypotheses with their fellow fans. It makes for an easy way to pass the time before our beloved “Yellowstone” returns to us. In a recent Reddit thread, fans discuss the role that Beth Dutton had, or didn’t have, in her mother’s death.

“Can we all just agree that Beth’s mom’s death was not Beth’s fault?” a fan asks. “Like how could she even insinuate that she had any control of a horse she wasn’t even mounted on.”

The short answer to this person’s question is a big no. If “Yellowstone” fans went around agreeing with each other all the time, well– that would not be much fun. We all remember the flashback scene that shows Evelyn Dutton falling to her death from atop the horse she was on. She blames her young daughter for the incident before she dies. To the untrained eye, it didn’t look like the fall could have possibly been Beth’s fault.

‘Yellowstone’ Fans Debate Evelyn Dutton’s Death

Evelyn seemed to have it in for Beth, once telling her it was a mother’s job to toughen up their daughters. Several Redditors chime in on the conversation of whether Beth is to blame for Evelyn’s death.

“Yes, this has always annoyed me,” a “Yellowstone” fan proclaims. “Beth was obviously scared and her mom did a piss poor job of trying to toughen her up, only causing more fear. Beth’s mom killed her own self. I get what the mom was trying to do with Beth, she just did it really, really poorly in my opinion. I think I’m more upset about this than I should be because I’m a mom. But seriously! Then, knowing she is likely dying, to say what she said to Beth as some of her last words like wtf.”

Other “Yellowstone” Redditors thin Beth Dutton could use some counseling.

Beth is a classic example of someone who needs and could greatly benefit from intensive psychotherapy to understand the source of her never-ending rage, guilt and pain, and then move on and grow,” another fan says.

What will the fourth season of “Yellowstone” have in store for Beth Dutton? We still have a little longer to wait before we find out. “Yellowstone” will return on November 7.
