A particular question has and will continue to plague “Yellowstone” fans until an answer becomes available in the upcoming new season.
Everyone seemingly has a theory on who orders the hit on the powerful Montana ranching family, the Duttons. There is no shortage of suspects, as several characters have motivation to do away with the Dutton clan.
To refresh your memory — three members of the Dutton family come under attack as season three winds down. Family patriarch John Dutton is shot several times in the chest while assisting a stranded family. He is hit in the heart area several times but may have survived due to a well-placed cell phone. John’s son, Kayce Dutton, is also ambushed by unknown gunmen. He is able to take cover behind his desk and shields himself from incoming bullets. Beth Dutton, John’s only daughter, receives a mysterious brown package that turns out to be a bomb. It explodes inside her office when her new assistant opens it. Beth is only a few feet from the devastating blast.
The status of these three “Yellowstone” characters is very much up in the air at the moment. Each of the three could dead, alive or gravely injured as season four arrives.
‘Yellowstone’ Fans Weigh in on Attacker Identity
Once the fate of the Dutton family is discovered, “Yellowstone” will likely launch into full “whodunnit” mode. It is certainly what fans want to see as theories and speculation continue to spread. In a recent Reddit thread, a poster suggests the culprit may not be who we think it is. His reasoning for believing Market Equities is not behind the attacks is timing.
“I think the attack on the Duttons had to be planned before the meeting,” the Yellowstone fan says. “Rourke and Willa thought they would be granted the land for the development. So, why would they preplan an attack on the Duttons? I don’t they could come up with a spur-of-the-moment attack, especially using a bomb. So who would benefit? Rember Angela Blue Thunder telling Chief Rainwater he could do something and never be a suspect? I think it was her planning and Rainwater knowing nothing of it. She is bitter and doesn’t approve of Rainwater’s approach to regaining the land.”
It is an interesting and plausible theory, to say the very least. A lot of fans are indeed pointing the finger at the Broken Rock Tribe, led by Chief Rainwater and his counsel, Angela Blue Thunder.
The fan and Reddit user also noted that timing is not on the side of the Market Equities duo of Roarke Morris and Willa Hayes. The group desperately wants the Yellowstone Ranch property and will go to great lengths to get it. But, as the fan notes, they thought they had it in the bag before the big meeting of all involved parties. Would they have had time to plan such a massive attack?
Until the show returns later this year (we hope) keep these entertaining theories coming “Yellowstone” fans.
