Veteran actor Luke Grimes is one of the many rising stars that make up the cast of the hit Paramount Network series “Yellowstone.”

On “Yellowstone,” Grimes plays the rough and tough Kayce Dutton to near perfection. Kayce is the son of Yellowstone Ranch owner John Dutton and has one of the series’ most interesting storylines. A former Navy Seal Kayce doesn’t look for trouble — but trouble often finds him. Kayce is the foreman of Yellowstone Ranch, having taken the position from Rip Wheeler at John’s command. Kayce and his wife, Monica, have a young son named Tate Dutton. In a previous season, we see the young family move into the ranch’s main housing unit at John’s suggestion. Kayce’s training as a Navy Seal often comes into play though he doesn’t like discussing his time in the military.

Other than “Yellowstone,” you may also recognize Luke Grimes from films “Fifty Shades of Gray” and “American Sniper.” At the current age of 37, Grimes’ star certainly appears to be on the rise in Hollywood. In a recent interview with the L.A. Times, Grimes discusses “Yellowstone” and what lessons can be learned from it.

“It is a family drama at its core,” he says of his show. “I think we all love that because we can all relate. It is also kind of an American story as old as how this country was founded and the way that it is now. It’s a lot of people fighting over a really beautiful place.”

‘Yellowstone’ Actor Speaks on Show’s Meaning

There is certainly a lot of fighting on “Yellowstone” as there are several factions that would like to claim the ranch as their own. The Broken Rock Tribe thinks the ranch property rightfully belongs to them. Market Equities wants to possess the Dutton land in order to build an airport and tourist destination. The Dutton family certainly has no shortage of enemies who want their property. It is up to Kayce and John Dutton, along with Rip Wheeler and others, to protect it. Luke Grimes sees the similarities between “Yellowstone” and our nation’s history.

“The sort of things that come out of people with the good, the bad and all the ugly that happens when people try to get what they want,” he says. “They’re fighting for a way of life that they feel they deserve. That is kind of what drew me into the project. At the end of the day, there was really no good guy or bad guy at the end of this story.”

“Yellowstone” fan can’t wait to find out what season four will bring for Kayce Dutton. The first and most obvious question to address is if he survives the season three finale attacks. Most fans believe that Kayce will indeed survive and will have a big role in the upcoming new season.

“Yellowstone” is set to return later this year in the fall.
