In the “Yellowstone” universe, everything revolves around the powerful Montana cattle ranching family, the Duttons, and their beloved ranch.

“Yellowstone” Ranch has been in the Dutton family for well over a century. And we know that because showrunner Taylor Sheridan has established that spinoff show “1883,” will be about how the Duttons came to own the ranch. One other thing we are sure of when it comes to “Yellowstone” Ranch is that there are a lot of people who would like to take the ranch from the Dutton family. This forms the foundation on which the modern western drama is set.

Will the Duttons be able to stave off attackers and threats to maintain their ranch? It’s one of the biggest questions surrounding the heavily popular show. Let’s take a look:

With a new season of “Yellowstone” just around the corner, it is fair to wonder who the ranch will belong to in the long run. There is no shortage of entities that would love nothing more than to own the property the ranch sits on. The Broken Rock Native American Tribe, headed up by Thomas Rainwater, believes the ranch rightfully belongs to them. Market Equities desire the property so badly that they are willing to pay an absurd amount of money for it. Roarke Morris and Willa Hayes, who represent the firm, offer up half a billion dollars for the ranch without batting an eye. The Market Equities team has made it clear that they are also willing to kill for the property. Their plan is to turn the ranch into an airport and tourist destination.

‘Yellowstone’ Ranch is at a Crossroads as New Season Nears

There is even descent inside the Dutton family as to the future of the ranch. With “Yellowstone” Ranch owner John Dutton battling age and medical issues — there is no direct heir to the “Yellowstone” throne.

Despite the many battles facing the Dutton family and their associates, they’ve made it clear they aren’t going down without a fight. “Yellowstone” Ranch has been in John Dutton’s family for several generations and he intends on keeping it that way. Will he be able to?

The prediction here is that the Dutton Family and their team of cowboys are standing tall at the end of season four. A successful defense of their ranch is what the show’s enormous fan base most wants to see.

With the return of “Yellowstone” now under two months away, the long wait for answers is narrowing.
