With the news that their favorite show will return, fans of the hit Paramount Network series “Yellowstone” are elated.
The show’s cast is also very excited for the return of “Yellowstone” with many using social media to express their excitement. Kelly Reilly (Beth Dutton), Cole Hauser (Rip Wheeler) and Kevin Costner (John Dutton) are among cast members declaring they’re ready for the show to return. Costner’s Dutton expects to play a big role in the upcoming new season as the series’ primary protagonist. We last see John Dutton stranded on the side of the road, having been shot multiple times. He had stopped to assist a young family in changing a flat tire and is ambushed by unknown assailants. Most fans believe he survives the attack due to a well-placed cell phone in his shirt pocket. His survival is also teased on the recently released trailer for season four of “Yellowstone.”
With an emphasis on John Dutton in the upcoming new season, “Yellowstone” watchers could get more glimpses of his youth. Through flashbacks, we are able to examine the relationship between John and his father. We also get glimpses into other parts of young John Dutton’s life that make him the man he is today.
‘Yellowstone’ Features Flashbacks of Young John Dutton
The younger John Dutton is played by veteran actor Josh Lucas, who actually resembles a young Kevin Costner. In a recent interview with Collider, Lucas talks about his work on “Yellowstone,” including the difficult, yet exhilarating, track to the show’s set.
“It’s one of the most beautiful shows that I’ve ever been a part of, in terms of the landscapes,” Lucas says. “Even getting to set can be extraordinarily challenging, where you’re like taking an ATV to a horse and then taking a horse to set. It’s the best.”
Lucas is far from the only actor to express admiration for the “Yellowstone” set. The show films in a mountainous region in Montana that is breathtakingly beautiful.
The 50-year-old Lucas is known for his roles in several films, such as “American Psycho” and “Glory Road.”
He makes it clear in the interview that he would definitely be up for continuing the role of young John Dutton.
“Please write it, I would love to,” he says. “I really would. I really liked doing that show. There’s even been some talk of doing whole flashback episodes. That is my hope. I don’t know if or when that’ll happen, but I’m open to it, that’s for sure.”
While it remains to be seen if we will get more of Lucas as a young John Dutton, it is a safe bet we’ll be getting more Kevin Costner. The ever-popular series expects to make its return later this year in the fall season.
