‘Yellowstone’ Left Off on a Cliffhanger
By the end of its previous season, “Yellowstone” had become the most popular show on cable TV. And in the Season 3 finale, which shattered ratings records, audiences were left on the edge of their seats.
As the season finale wound down, the Duttons had just joined forces with Chief Thomas Rainwater (Gil Birmingham) and Angela Blue Thunder (Q’orianka Kilcher) to thwart hedge fund Market Equities, which was angling to use a parcel of John Dutton’s (Kevin Costner) land for an airport. At a climactic meeting that featured all the major players in the valley, John and Beth Dutton (Kelly Reilly) turned down the hedge fund’s offer, only to see Jamie Dutton (Wes Bentley) override them. But Blue Thunder had put together a class-action lawsuit challenging the hedge fund’s plans.
No sooner had the Duttons left the meeting than John was gunned down by the side of the road in a drive-by shooting. Beth disappeared in the explosion that rocked her office after a mysterious package turned out to contain a bomb. Meanwhile, Kayce Dutton (Luke Grimes) suddenly found himself facing a pack of intruders at his office.
Who was behind the seemingly coordinated attacks? Will all three Duttons survive to see Season 4? And, as many fans wondered, what will Rip Wheeler (Cole Hauser), John Dutton’s enforcer, do when he finds out what happened?
Season 4: The Wrath of Rip?
The cast of “Yellowstone” has been pretty tight-lipped about the events of Season 4. No spoilers from them, not even a hint about whether their characters live or die.
But at Deadline’s Contenders Television event, Hauser did acknowledge that Rip will have some score-settling to do when Season 4 begins. His character can be lethal when crossed, and one can only imagine what the attacks on his fiancée and boss will bring out in Rip.
“Everybody’s in danger in Montana after that,” Hauser said.
