Taylor Sheridan, the creator of Paramount Network’s hit show “Yellowstone,” has been hard at work the last few years.

Sheridan is behind a very popular series starring Kevin Costner. However, he is also hard at work on several other upcoming projects.

“Yellowstone” season four is currently in the works. There are also two “Yellowstone” shows that have been approved: “Y:1883” and “6666.” According to IMDb, Sheridan has either completed or is in the pre-production phase of “Tom Clancy’s Without Remorse,” “Those Who Wish Me Dead,” “Lioness,” “Fast,” and “Mayor of Kingstown.”

A new cast member now joins Sheridan’s highly anticipated series, “Mayor of Kingstown.”

Dianne Wiest Joins Taylor Sheridan Project

According to Variety, Dianne Wiest will star in the Paramount Plus series alongside Jeremy Renner. Sheridan and High Dillon are co-creators and both are executive producers. Renner, Antoine Fuqua, David Glasser, Ron Burkle, Bob Yari, and Michael Friedman are also executive producers.

The series will follow the lives of the McLusky family. They are a collection of power brokers living in Kingstown, Michigan. The show also covers important and relevant social issues. This includes systematic racism, corruption, and inequality. Similar to other Taylor Sheridan projects, the show will center around themes of justice and order.

Dianne Wiest is playing the mother of the family. In addition, she also teaches at the town’s women’s prison. Renner is her son and the “Mayor of Kingstown.”

Wiest has won two Academy Awards and a Golden Globe for “Hannah and Her Sisters” and “Bullets Over Broadway.” She won two Emmys for “Road to Avonlea” and “In Treatment.” She recently starred in “Life in Pieces” and “Let Them All Talk.” Some other appearances include “Footloose,” “The Lost Boys,” “Rabbit Hole,” “Practical Magic,” And “The Birdcage.”

Netflix users will recognize her most recent role in the comedy thriller “I Care a Lot” starring Rosamund Pike. The movie is about a woman who steals the assets of elderly people and takes them as her own. She gets into trouble with a very powerful mob family in the process. What’s more, Wiest is the mob mother.

More on ‘Mayor of Kingstown’

Jeremy Renner is known for his role as Hawkeye in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He teamed up with Sheridan in the past for the successful movie, “Wind River,” alongside his Marvel co-star, Elizabeth Olsen.

“‘The Mayor of Kingstown’ is a look at America’s greatest failures encapsulated in one city. As this town is dying and is completely dependent upon the prison system it’s mirrored through the disintegration of the family,” Taylor Sheridan says in a behind-the-scenes of the show. However, the release date is unknown.

As a matter of fact, Taylor Sheridan recruits some of the biggest film actors and transfers them over to television.

“I am excited to dig into the complex and rough-around-the-edges character of Mike McLusky (the Mayor of Kingstown). In a world otherwise forgotten in society, Mike serves as a flawed system of checks and balances. Taylor has brought to life a layered and poignant universe that is not only incredibly intriguing but also more relevant than ever,” Jeremy Renner said to The Hollywood Reporter in February.

Renner will also be in the Disney+ “Hawkeye” this year.
