On Tuesday, Yellowstone National Park put out a video warning tourists of the dangers of getting too close to grazing buffalo. The very next day a 54 year old woman approaching a calf was gored and de-pantsed.
This incident captured on video (Warning: Strong language) happened in Custer State Park in South Dakota. Bikers have been gathered near there for the past two weeks for the annual Sturgis bike festival.
The woman reportedly got off of a motorcycle and was approaching a young bison calf, presumably to take a photo. The mother bison then charged her down and attacked the woman pulling her pants down in the process. Oh, the humility.
Reports from the Custer County Chronicle say she was attacked along Iron Mountain Road on Wednesday, August 12th. The victim had to be transported by Black Hills Life Flight.
“An adult bison charged her catching her belt and jeans on its horn and swung her around violently. She was apparently saved when her pants came off and she fell to the ground unconscious,” said county sheriff Marty Mechaley “[A]t that point, the attacking animal ran off along with the rest of the herd.”
The unidentified woman somehow escaped serious injury, it was reported.
