A 38-year-old California woman went missing in Utah’s Zion National Park last week and has not been seen since.
Holly Suzanne Courtier was last spotted at 1:30 p.m. on October 6, the New York Post reported. She was seen leaving a private shuttle bus in the national park.
Missing her ride back
Courtier rode the shuttle to a stop near the Angels Landing trailhead, according to the San Jose Mercury News. The ride back left at 4:40 p.m. that day. She never showed up.
Courtier’s daughter Kailey Chambers told CBS News that her mother had been a nanny in Woodland Hills, California prior to the pandemic. After she lost her job, she decided to visit national parks around the country in a converted van. Driving into the park is banned, so Courtier had to take a shuttle into the park.
Chambers was still holding out hope that someone would offer information about her mother’s whereabouts.
“As of right now my knowledge is that tomorrow is their last day as far as I know, because no new information has arose,” Chambers said. “So if just one person can call in a single tip, it would extend the days that the rangers are allowed to go look for her.”
California family begins search
Courtier has hiked alone in the past, her daughter said, and she is an experienced hiker. Family members are beginning their own search for Courtier as of Tuesday.
“I don’t care if I’m the only person on the trail looking for her, I’m not going to stop until I find her,” Chambers told CBS.
Courtier was likely wearing a Pistil gray trucker hat, a black Patagonia Nano puff jacket, a dark tank top, and gray Danner Trail hiking boots. She also had an Osprey Blue multi-day pack.
