Do you need a reason to smile on this fine Tuesday? If you are looking for a pick-me-up, you came to the right place. We found some adorable footage of the moment a labrador kisses a friendly whale shark.
Jade Pursell and one of her friends were diving off of the Ningaloo Reef in Australia. Not long after they got out on the water, a curious whale shark swam right up beside their boat. That was enough to spark the interest of Pursell’s yellow labrador, Sailor. The dog then walked over and gave the whale shark a kiss on the nose as it poked its head out of the water. It was undoubtedly a sweet moment.
“Sailor had never met a whale shark before,” Pursell explained to Fox News. “I always hoped she would but that was by far better than I had ever imagined. I was telling her not to touch it but neither of them listened to me.”
Pursell talked about how happy it made her to see her dog interact with one of the whale sharks she regularly swims with. She wondered whether or not the two animals could tell that they were connected in that way. While, of course, there is no way to know for sure, the adorable kissing moment had to have been a good sign.
“I was so happy,” Pursell said. “To see Sailor meet a whale shark, I honestly just felt overjoyed. Animals are incredible and it couldn’t have gone any better. I wondered if she knew or could smell that this was the animal I swim with every day. My initial worry was that she might take a leap of faith onto the shark or that she would touch it. Once the shark was so close to her I knew I had nothing to worry about.”
Readers Comment on Cute Moment Between Dog and Whale Shark
We’re not the only ones who find dogs kissing whale sharks to be cute. There’s nothing better than seeing two animals interact who would have otherwise never run into each other. Sailor’s owner made sure to point out that exact message.
“It was such an innocent interaction, I felt so lucky to see it,” she said. “To think Sailor is probably the only dog in the world to have kissed a whale shark is pretty special.”
Meanwhile, readers on Fox News were just as blown away by the photos.
“Very cool experience and to get a photo is the bonus!” one fan commented.
“Whale sharks are awesome, so are labradors,” another person said.
And finally, one Outsider out there pointed out that Pursell has a genius name for her beloved dog.
“Sailor — what a good name for a seafaring dog.”
