Outdoors and Hunting Events to Look Forward to in 2021

Outdoorsmen and hunters, get ready to mark your calendars. This year is offering up events for those that love all things outside.

From annual events, like Shot Show to local National Rifle Association events, we’re sharing some of the top functions that we’ve got on our radar.

Here’s the rundown on outdoor and hunting events in 2021. Reminder: some of these are pending on the current pandemic, while some are canceling their events. Be sure to check the website for more information before making plans to attend.

NSSF Shot Show Virtual Outdoor and Hunting Event

This year’s National Shooting Sports Foundation Shot Show is moving to a virtual event and learning experience. Due to the current pandemic guidelines in Nevada, the organization has made the decision to move the expo online.

However, the Shot Show is not going to be lacking in experiences. Attendees might not be able to meet with vendors in person, but an online platform is set up for meetings and shopping. Furthermore, Shot Show is launching Shot University, a slew of online education courses.

Daily emails and videos will be sent to enhance the virtual experience.

Great American Outdoor Show Canceled

The NRA’s Great American Outdoor Show is canceling due to COVID-related governmental restrictions in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. The 2021 event was previously scheduled for February 6-14, 2021.

“The NRA will certainly miss the opportunity to celebrate America’s great firearm, hunting, fishing, and outdoor heritage, but we look forward to seeing old friends and meeting new ones at the Great American Outdoor Show scheduled to be held February 5 – 13, 2022,” the website states.

National Wild Turkey Federation Convention & Sport Show Now Virtual

The National Wild Turkey Federation Convention & Sport show is now taking place virtually. The convention starts Monday, February 15, and runs through Sunday, February 20.

Annual Worldwide Hunting Expo & Convention Canceled

The Houston Safari Club Foundation has decided to cancel its Annual Worldwide Hunting Expo & Convention. The HSCF website states that “due to factors related to the ongoing complications of the COVID-19 pandemic” the event is canceled.

The event was originally set for February 26-28, 2021.

World Deer Expo

The 37th Annual World Deer Expo is taking place in Birmingham, Alabama. The show starts July 16 and goes through July 18.

The three-day event features something for everyone that loves hunting, fishing, and the great outdoors. The expo will have the latest hunting products and apparel, various competitions, giveaways, door prizes, and more.

NRA’s Annual Meetings & Exhibits

The NRA’s 150th Annual Meetings & Exhibits is happening September 3-5, 2021. The event is in Houston, Texas at the George R. Brown Convention Center.

Around 850 exhibitors are providing displays of the latest firearms from various manufacturers. Some events are requiring a ticket, and there’s an option to purchase those in advance. However, the expo is open and free to all NRA members.

Additional NRA Events

Friends of the NRA often hold events around the country. The mission behind the NRA branch is to promote fun and fellowship, but also to fundraise for the future of shooting sports.

“Friends of NRA has held over 17,000 events, reached over 3 million attendees, and raised over $600 million for The NRA Foundation, the largest charity in support of the shooting sports,” the NRA shares.

Open Season Sportsman’s Expo at Various Locations

The Open Season Sportman’s Expo is happening in six different states this year. The event shares world-class deer exhibits for fellow outdoor enthusiasts.

  • February 26-28 in Monroe, Louisiana
  • March 12-14 in Overland Park, Kansas
  • March19-21 in Columbus, Ohio
  • March 26-28 in Madison, Wisconsin
  • July 23-25 in Lakeland, Florida

Moreover, the events have a wide variety of attractions, like archery shooting, cooking demos, educational seminars, and more.
