Missing Hiker Gabby Petito’s Family Says Her Boyfriend ‘Refuses to Help’ Investigation

Amid the strange missing person case surrounding 22-year-old Gabby Petito, the latest updates reveal Petito’s boyfriend “refuses to help” in the investigation. Petitio was last heard from at Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming on August 25th. She mysteriously disappeared afterward and her family has not heard from her since. Now, as weeks have passed, Petito’s family issued a statement Tuesday asking her boyfriend to cooperate with the ongoing investigation.

While Gabby Petito’s family seeks to locate their daughter, the statement further emphasized that the boyfriend “should not remain in the background” of the ongoing investigation. Currently, Petito’s case sees coverage from both local police as well as the FBI, among other agencies.

According to NBC4i, Gabby Petito’s boyfriend has returned home to Florida, lawyering up soon after.

Additionally, authorities located the van in which the couple had been traveling cross-country at Petito’s boyfriend’s parents’ house. As of now, the van remains in custody of local authorities as evidence. Petito’s boyfriend’s family additionally refuses to help, their lawyer issuing a statement claiming he and his family intend to “[remain] in the background at this juncture and will have no further comment.”

Even stranger, however, Petito’s family stated, “[He] is refusing to tell Gabby’s family where he last saw her. [He] is also refusing to explain why he left Gabby all alone and drove her van to Florida.” The family insists as any would, that these two questions remain critical and answers are required sooner than later.

As far as the hunt for Gabby goes, her boyfriend’s family simply stated, “It is our hope that the search for Miss Petito is successful and that Miss Petito is reunited with her family.”

Investigators Find Potential Lead in Gabby Petito’s Spotify Playlists

Gabby Petito’s case remains strange and twisted. Although, authorities have identified a murky potential lead pointing to possible causes for her disappearance. As investigations continue, authorities have simply revealed the pair became involved in an “incident” on August 12th in Moab, Utah. The “incident” took place shortly before Gabby Petito’s strange disappearance. However, officers who investigated stated they did not find evidence of a crime.

Unfortunately, we can provide Outsiders little else on that front. The only additional statement comes from the region’s Chief Bret Edge. He stated, “Neither Brian nor Gabrielle were the reporting party.” FOX identified Petito’s boyfriend as Brian Laundrie.

As far as Gabby Petito’s playlists are concerned, the days before her disappearance saw her creating a variety of Spotify lists. The lists overall consist of heartache songs. FOX detailed several of the songs. The collection perhaps giving the public insight as to what the young woman experienced prior to her going missing.

One song, entitled “Woman” by Matt Berry talks about the struggles within relationships. But it also highlights that your woman will “always be the best friend you have in the world.”

Another, entitled “The Badger’s Wake,” however, is a little more haunting as it details the decomposition of a badger underground.

Further, August 30th saw Gabby Petito’s creation of a playlist entitled, “Selfconsumption.”

Based on the minimal clues which authorities currently have, suspicion points toward Laundrie. However, investigators have yet to find any evidence of a crime. Regardless, a North Port, FL police spokesman told media, “I think anyone would assume that the possible last person to be around her is a person of interest to want to talk with. However, there is no crime at this point.”
