Well, that’s a lot of Santa Clauses on the lake. When he’s not delivering presents to good little boys and girls, Santa Claus likes to go fishing. There’s also apparently like 300 Santas, which better explains how Santa can cover the entire globe in one night.

A group of 300 anglers decided to spread some holiday cheer and catch some bass. They all dressed up like Kris Kringle himself and set a world record in the process. To all those Santas on the lake challengers out there, better find at least 301 of your closest buddies.

Ugly Stik, a fishing rod company, threw a fishing tournament in honor of a charitable cause. The tournament took place at Lake Norman, North Carolina. The anglers raised $15,000 in donations for Toys for Tots. The charity helps children, whose parents can’t afford gifts, receive presents during the holiday season.

This was the first year the rod company held the tournament. But it appears to have been a smashing success. All the fishermen were decked out in their best red and white coats and Santa hats. The tournament’s winning bass weighed 15 pounds. The company shared the good news on Facebook.

The company wrote, “Fun fact: Santa Claus loves gettin’ after some Bass before Christmas time! About 300 anglers decked out as Santa Claus hit the water at Lake Norman, NC yesterday in the first-ever Ugly Stik World’s Largest Santa Claus Bass Tournament benefiting Toys for Tots. Anglers dressed as Ol’ St. Nick donated an estimated $15,000-plus worth of new toys to Toys for Tots to help make Christmas possible for area children, while setting a world record for the largest fishing tournament contested by anglers dressed as Santa Claus. Anglers Scott Hamrick and Roger Hoover took home the title of top Santa and $5,000 after a day of swingin’ on Lake Norman bass for a 15.07lb. bag.”

In an interview, the company’s vice president of marketing Jon Schlosser explained why they decided to hold a Christmas themed tournament.

“This year especially, we felt people needed an event like this one. It’s hard to see so many Santas in one place and have a bad time,” Schlosser told 3 WBTV. “Ugly Stik has always been about having fun and just catching fish—and what a better example of that than this. We’re excited by the turnout and proud to own the world record but we’re even more excited to help bring Christmas to so many kids who might not otherwise have one this year.”
