Smallest Water Filter in The World Released: Thumb-Sized Survival Tool

Just when you thought you’ve seen it all, now there’s the smallest contraption on the market that will filter water.

Mbran Filtra introduces the smallest water filter in the world. The filter is about the size of your thumb.

According to the press release the water flow rate of the PES hollow fiber membrane portable filter is three-times faster than its competitors. What’s more, the portable and electricity-free design can make clean, drinkable water available anywhere and anytime.

How the Small Water Filter Works

Mbran Filtra focuses on membrane filtration materials in both a study and development aspect. These microporous membranes that Mbran Filtra manufactures are made out of a variety of materials, like polyethersulfone (PES), Polyamide (Nylon), polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) and polypropylene (PP).

By layering these materials and creating different pore structures, the membranes are able to filter out unwanted matter from various liquids. Furthermore, Mbran Filtra produces a reliable portfolio of microfiltration membrane products.

Mbran Filtra is still in the process of building its website. Additionally, they have yet to announce when and where the product will be available for purchase.

Other Water Purification Systems

Thankfully for Outsiders like us, there have been a pleather of water purification systems that have been invented. Some of them are smaller than others, and then there are some that are easier to use.

Take the LifeStraw Personal Water Filter for example. It’s small and portable. This is a go-to time and time again as an essential when entering the great outdoors. Like the world’s smallest water filter, The LifeStraw also uses membrane microfilters to trap impurities.

Then there’s the Sawyer Products MINI Water Filtration System. “Ideal for outdoor recreation, hiking, camping, scouting, domestic and International travel, and emergency preparedness,” this filtration system gives outsiders fresh, safe, drinkable water. Just like the new, thumb-sized filter and the LifeStraw, the Sawyer Water Filtration System uses the same technology of mircofibers to filter out bacteria and protozoa.

However, what sets this product apart is that it comes with a squeezable pouch as well as a straw that lets you drink right from the water source.
