Graphic trail cam footage shows the large buck walking about the woods with an indescribable and seemingly fresh injury carved into his back.
For hunters, this may not be too much to stomach. If you’re not used to seeing the innards of a deer, however, then this may not be the article for you.
A whitetail hunter in Illinois is still in disbelief over what his trail cam has shown him. Chris Evans (the hunter in question – not the actor behind Captain America) captures the footage. As he was tracking deer, a living buck strides into view. This particular buck he’s seen before, and it was perfectly healthy.
As a result of a grave injury or incident, however, the buck now shows a ghastly injury. The wound is so massive and so severe, even, that the animal should not be alive.
Evans is not sure what could cause such a clean-cut injury in the wild, either.
“Pretty wild thing to see a deer still walking after something like this,” Evans reports. “We are trying to see if we can find and kill him if he is still alive.”
While this may sound inhumane – the truly inhumane thing would be to leave this poor buck to fester of such an open and horrendous wound.
WARNING: This Buck Footage is Hard to Watch
Any predator leaves tooth & claw marks. As a result, killing wounds are full of lacerations – and are messy. None are apparent on this poor buck. This did not happen as a result of predators, or any bullet.
Evans also says local neighbors are keeping an eye out for the buck to see if they can end his suffering.
Wildlife technicians believe the wound may be the result of flesh-eating bacteria. The ‘cuts’ around the open flesh, however, are so clean and precise – that whatever did this could be far more bizarre a circumstance.
Please head this warning if you are squeamish. If your stomach is made of iron, however, then proceed. This poor buck should not be alive.
