If there’s anything the internet has taught us, it’s that dog moms are not to be messed with. They are fearless, resilient, and sassy when it comes to making sure their precious fur babies are kept out of harm’s way. Even if the potential attacker is a massive bear.

One woman was willing to full-on tackle an intruder bear NFL middle linebacker style. A viral TikTok video shares the entire interaction. It looks like a camera on the side of the house captured the action as it unfolded. An account on TikTok called bakedlikepie shared the video, which now has 6.9 million likes.

The video is captioned, “My cousin Hailey yeeted a bear off her fence today and saved her dogs. How was your Memorial Day?! (WTF?!)”

Woman Tackles Bear in Viral Video

The bear is seen perched on a brick wall fence bordering the woman’s yard. The massive creature is sitting there like an owl on a branch.

However, the woman appears to have three to four dogs running around in the yard as the bear peers into space. A black dog right next to the brick wall is dangerously close to the bear. In fact, the brown bear claws down at the animal, but the dog quickly dashes away in the direction of the house. The “oh no, oh no, oh no no no no… ” TikTok sound is beyond fitting for this interaction.

Right as the bear looks like it’s going to step foot in the yard, a woman dashes out at superhuman speed and tackles and outright spooks the full-grown wild bear. No interceptions on her watch.

She also scoops up one of the smaller dogs and the entire group makes a speedy run for the house. A possibly tragic situation is handled in less than 10 seconds.

Her play-by-play defense against the bear is enough to get Geoff Schwartz’s attention. He is a former NFL offensive guard, which means he knows a good tackle when he sees one. He wrote on Twitter, “I’m in awe of this woman. Just no hesitation at all. Full speed right into contact. Then grabbed the dogs and went right back inside. Like she’s done this before.”

Alaskan Woman Survives Attack

In February of 2021, a different woman got incredibly up close and personal with a bear.

Shannon Stevens was near Chilkat Lake in Alaska. She was spending the weekend with her brother and his girlfriend in a remote yurt in the wilderness of Alaska. The closest town was Haines, 17 miles away.

According to KTOO, she didn’t exactly come face-to-face with her attacker. Rather, the bear was face-to-face with a different part of her body. Stevens had gone to use the outhouse and when she sat down she was immediately bit on her bottom. Stevens jumped up and screamed and went to grab her brother, Erik Stevens.

“I’m like, ‘Okay, I’m going to open the lid and look.’ I take the headlamp and I grab the lid of the toilet seat and I lift it up. Right at the level of the toilet seat, maybe an inch or two below, is a gigantic bear face looking right back up at me,” Erik Stevens said.

While certainly a shocking situation, Stevens did not sustain any serious injuries. She had a wound that needed to be cleaned and bandaged, but that’s all.

Although it’s not uncommon for people to encounter bears, especially in Alaska, nothing is quite like this encounter.
