Jordan Chiles Supports Simone Biles Following Shocking 2020 Olympics Departure

Following Simone Biles’ decision to remove herself from the team and individual gymnastic events at the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo, Team USA’s Jordan Chiles and Grace McCallum shared their support for the decision by stating that Biles is not a quitter.

“I was there for her, I supported her, I did try to tell her, ‘Look you know how to do everything. This is you. This is your moment, It’s all about you,” Chiles recalls on Today. Jordan says that while she really can’t say a lot because Biles has to tell her own story, she is going to support the Olympics legend no matter what.

“I am her teammate. I am her best friend like she said. This is the moment that I think that I truly realized that I’ve gotten so much closer to her than I thought,” the Olympics silver medal winner states. She describes Biles as her “ride or die” and she will forever be by her side.

She told reporters, “Whenever you get in a high-stress situation, you kind of freak out. I have to focus on my mental health and not jeopardize my health and well-being.”

The USA team went on to win the silver medal behind the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) at this year’s Olympics. On Wednesday (July 28th), Simone made the decision to withdraw from the individual women’s gymnastics finals.

USA Gymnastics reveals in a statement, “After further medical evaluation, Simone Biles has withdrawn from the final individual all-around competition at the Tokyo Olympics in order to focus on her mental health. We wholeheartedly support Simone’s decision and applaud her bravery in prioritizing her well-being. Her courage shows, yet again, why she is a role model for so many.”

Jade Carey, who held the ninth highest score in qualifications participated in Simone’s place in the all-around event.
