Good news for Green Bay fans. Aaron Rodgers, your quarterback, is back to his John Wick loving ways.

Rodgers posted a snap from pre-game Saturday as he was walking into Lambeau Field. The Packers play host to the New York Jets in Saturday afternoon’s NFL preseason game.

The contest, in the grand 2021 scheme of things, is pretty meaningless. But Aaron Rodgers gave it some meaning by dropping in the John Wick reference. The photo he shared on Instagram showed the quarterback wearing jeans and a dark shirt. He sported Aviators and headphones. Rodgers wore his hair tightly pulled back. Yes, he could look like an NFL version of Keanu Reeves as John Wick.

And Aaron Rodgers captioned the photo “Game day. john wick 4”

Want Some Aaron Rodgers as John Wick Back Story?

Aaron Rodgers is passionate about a couple of Hollywood franchises. He loves Jeopardy!. And he obsesses over the John Wick movie franchise. Reeves, as Wick, is a super hitman. John Wick 4 was supposed to be out this past May, but the pandemic pushed it back a year. So Rodgers is giving it some very early hype.

Back in early 2019, Rodgers’ teammates were telling John Wick stories about their quarterback. Keep in mind, this was spring, right before the NFL draft, when everyone still is relatively optimistic about the season. A reporter asked David Bakhtiari, Rodgers’ powerful left tackle, about what he expected from the quarterback.

“Have you ever seen John Wick?” Bakhtiari asked the reporter? “Did you ever see when they kill his dog?” “That … is what I expect.”

Aaron Rodgers accomplished what Bakhtiari promised. Going “John Wick” on the NFL. Rodgers helped lead Green Bay to a 13-3 season and into the playoffs for the first time since 2016. He did much the same in 2020, when the Packers made it to the NFC championship, before falling at home to Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. It still proved to be the first time the Packers clinched the No. 1 seed in the playoffs in nine years.

Maybe Aaron Rodgers goes John Wick on the NFL again this season. This year definitely is set up to be different. He got engaged to actress Shailene Woodley. And he served as a celebrity guest-host for Jeopardy! He wanted the full-time gig. But Mike Richards got job, but was forced to resign from the spot this past week after filming only five shows for the 38th season. Could Rodgers be a candidate again?

Will This Be the QB’s Final Season?

Questions are swirling as to whether this will be the final season for Aaron Rodgers. He is 37. But he won’t say what his plans may be after the fall.

He told reporters this week:

“I don’t want a farewell tour,” Aaron Rodgers told the media. “I don’t know what’s going to happen after the season, but I’m going to enjoy it with the right perspective, for sure, and not look at it as I’m getting through this.”

“I’m going to enjoy the hell out of all of it.”

And for Aaron Rodgers, that means giving off a John Wick vibe in the middle of the preseason.
