Alvin Kamara Perfectly Responds to the NFL Fining His Christmas Day Cleats

While the rest of the world couldn’t look away as Alvin Kamara cut up the Minnesota Vikings defense for six touchdowns last week, the NFL was staring at his shoes. The league earned it’s “No Fun League” nickname this week when officials fined the New Orleans running back $5,000 for wearing green and red cleats during the Christmas day game.

Kamara, however, isn’t worried about the money. In fact, he’s going to double the amount.

“If they fine me, I’ll just match it and send it to charity,” he said after the game. “The Grinch always tries to steal Christmas.”

He didn’t specify which charity would get the money.

Alvin Kamara Sets Records, Leads League

Kamara rushed for a career-best 155 yards and tied an NFL record with six touchdowns in the Saints 52-33 win last week. He also set the new bar for fantasy football championship game points. He earned 56.2 points in a standard league, CBS Sports said. That tops the previous best of 49.6 points set by Todd Gurley in 2017.

The 25-year-old was humble despite his Herculean effort.

“It’s crazy. The O-line did a great job; I really didn’t have to do too much. And the receivers did a great job setting the edge and coming across and doing the dirty work,” he said, according to ESPN. “It just feels good to have one of those days, just for the team, just for offensive morale. Like I always say, I’m not focused on personal goals and yards and stuff like that. As long as the team has success, then personal success will come.”

Kamara is tied for the most rushing touchdowns heading into the final game of the season with Minnesota’s Dalvin Cook. They are one score ahead of league rushing leader Derrick Henry of the Tennessee Titans. Cook will not play on Sunday following the unexpected death of his father.

The Saints have clinched the NFC South crown. The team heads to Carolina on Sunday to take on the lackluster Panthers to end the season.
