NFL Hall of Famer Brett Favre logged on to Twitter Sunday to send out a touching Memorial Day salute to military men and women.

“A big Thank you to our men and women who presently keep us safe by serving our country,” the former GreenBay Packer tweeted Sunday afternoon.

“To all those who have given the ultimate sacrifice we will never be able to thank you enough,” the star quarterback continues in the heartfelt tweet.

Brett Favre Calls for Honoring Vets

Favre spent 16 seasons hitting the NFL gridiron as a Green Bay Packer. During this time, the footballer led the Wisconsin team to two consecutive Super Bowls, winning one championship title in 1997. In 2008, Favre was traded to the New York Jets, and in 2009, he was traded to Minnesota.

While at Minnesota, Favre helped lead the Vikings to a division title as well as an NFC championship appearance. Favre officially retired in 2011. Favre held the Green Bay record for the number of touchdown passes, throwing a total of 442 touchdown passes in 255 career games. However, this feat was recently surpassed by Aaron Rodgers.

Favre’s touching acknowledgment of those who have served our country was not out of character for the football star. Favre goes on to end the meaningful tweet by saying the men and women who serve our country as heroes should never be taken for granted. Favre called on the rest of the Twitterverse to give the same recognition.

“We can start by never taking our military and the men and women who serve for granted!!!!” the football player wrote.

Favre Honors Veterans

Throughout his football career, Favre has been a staunch supporter of the men and women of America’s armed forces. In 2018, the quarterback served as a speaker at the 38th National Veterans Wheelchair Games (NVWG) in Orlando Florida.

“It’s been a humbling and rewarding experience,” the football star was quoted as saying during the event.  “It’s hard to put into words what you’re seeing and what these veterans have achieved and overcome.”

Always an athlete, the former packer also founded the 4Outdoors a charitable organization and platform.

The mission of 4Outdoors organization is to provide meaningful outdoor adventures and experiences to people in need.

As he spent some time working in his 4Outdoors charitable program, Favre soon found an additional service the program could provide. The former football star works with his organization to connect military veterans with service dogs. Favre joined PetCo to host a video series for the Dogs2Dogtags organization.
