Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and his fiance, Brittany Matthews, are experiencing the joys of parenthood for the first time.
The happy couple welcomed their child, a little girl, into the world last Saturday. Sterling Skye Mahomes arrived weighing in at six pounds and 11 ounces. The proud mom and dad have shared their happiness on social media but have decided to hold off on sharing newborn photos until the appropriate time.
On Friday, Matthews shared a thank you to all the people that have helped make their transition to parenthood smoother. She took to social media to express her and Mahomes’ thankfulness for the assistance.
“Honestly just feeling extremely blessed for all the people around me that have made this transition for Patrick and I so perfect and smooth,” Brittany Matthews says in the tweet.
The Friday morning tweet took in more than 3,000 “likes” within an hour of going live. The post’s comments section was full of social media users congratulating the couple and wishing them luck.
Patrick and Brittany also used social media to share the news of their daughter’s birth with the world. On Saturday, they both used their social media accounts to reveal baby Sterling had arrived. The proud mother also shows off her new diamond necklace that bears the child’s name in cursive writing — a fitting gift for a new mother.
The photo shows the infant’s tiny hand grasping her mother’s finger. Patrick also shares the photo to announce the birth of his first baby girl.
The couple made the decision to hold off on sharing photos of baby Sterling together. With her father one of the National Football League’s biggest stars, mom and dad know the spotlight will soon shine on her. They do plan on sharing photos later on when they decide the time is right. Matthews shares their reasoning for their decision in an Instagram story post.
“Today was Sterling’s actual due date, sure glad she came a few days early,” she said on Thursday. “We will share photos of her when we feel the time is right. I know the Internet will instantly take the photos of her and share everywhere so just preparing myself for my newborn baby girl to be shared to the world. Right now we are just soaking in every minute with her.”
Patrick Mahomes is currently enjoying the offseason and the arrival of his daughter makes it extra special. He should have plenty of motivation heading the 2021 NFL season.
