National Football League quarterback Baker Mayfield is a star on the rise, but his eyes were in the sky for another reason last night.
Mayfield, the starting quarterback for the Cleveland Browns thinks he saw an Unidentified Flying Object (UFO) recently. He took to social media to ask his fans and followers if any of them also witnessed a falling UFO. He says he and his spouse, Emily, were traveling home from dinner when he saw “a ball of light” descend from the sky. Based on the Twitter post, he seems rather convinced that he did indeed witness a UFO.
“Almost 100 percent, Em (Emily) and I just a UFO drop straight out of the sky on our way home from dinner,” he says in the tweet. “We stopped and looked at each other and asked if either of us saw it. Very bright ball of light going straight down out of the sky toward Lake Travis. Anybody else witness this?
Baker Mayfield Fans Respond to UFO Sighting Claim
Much like anything to do with extraterrestrial speculation, Mayfield’s tweet took in a lot of attention. Most of the comments are of the humorous variety as many people don’t give credence to the existence of UFO’s or alien life.
“Chill before the government comes after you,” a Browns fan jokes. “We need you next season big dawg.”
While the existence of life outside of earth will rage on for years to come, it is likely Mayfield and his wife saw a comet or shooting star falling down from the sky. Mayfield grew up in Austin, Texas and went to Lake Travis High School, which is where he claims the UFO was heading when he saw it.
Baker Mayfield was the first overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft out of the University of Oklahoma. He was a highly decorated college athlete, winning numerous awards during his final season, including the Heisman Trophy.
Mayfield had his best season as a pro last season, leading the Browns to their first playoff birth in nearly two decades. On the season, he threw for 3,563 yards and 26 touchdowns to just eight interceptions.
