Former NASCAR driver Clint Bowyer took to social media on Wednesday afternoon to tell his fans that arguing with fellow announcer Mike Joy is not a good idea.
Bowyer officially hung up his helmet after last season following a stellar 16-year career on the NASCAR Cup Series. However, he quickly found a new home not too far away from the track. That new home wound up being in the broadcast booth. Bowyer is teaming up this year to cover the sport with Mike Joy and Jeff Gordon.
So far, it seems like the crew has been working well and enjoying their time together. Mike Joy calls the action and Gordon and Bowyer offer up insights from their first-hand knowledge of being a driver. The competitive spirit of the trio can often times get the best of them, though. In hilarious fashion, each regularly likes to take shots at one another.
But on Wednesday afternoon, Clint Bowyer came to the defense of his fellow announcing partner. He took to Twitter roasting the fans on his timeline who were evidently attempting to argue with Mike Joy about cars. He even goes as far as to compare Joy to the Pope.
“My timeline just blew up with people trying to argue with @mikejoy500 about cars,” Bowyer wrote. “That would be like thinking you have more knowledge on religion than the pope himself. No chance!!!!”
Despite some fans thinking they know it all, others replied to the former NASCAR driver agreeing that Mike Joy knows best.
“Arguing with @mikejoy500 about cars is an argument you will lose,” one follower commented. Another Twitter follower replied saying, “Fact! Mike is a wealth of car knowledge,”
Mike Joy Drops Off Mustang to Clint Bowyer
A little less than two hours after coming to his defense, Clint Bowyer posted a photo of himself and Mike Joy standing side by side next to a brand new Ford Mustang.
It would appear that the friendship and chemistry between Bowyer and Joy go well beyond the broadcast booth. According to Bowyer’s tweet earlier today, Joy dropped off the all-new electric mustang for the former NASCAR driver to test out for himself.
“My buddy @mikejoy500 dropped off the all-new @FordMustang for me to try out,” Bowyer wrote alongside a photo of him and joy next to a Mustang. “Looking forward to seeing what this #MustangMachE is all about.
Seeing Clint Bowyer and Mike Joy hanging out in real life definitely explains why their chemistry is so great announcing together. For NASCAR fans, this bromance is about as wholesome as it gets.
