College Football Playoff Revealed: Georgia, Alabama Fans Are Absolutely Losing It

It’s official! The 2021 College Football Playoff top four has been set. Coming in as the top four football teams are Alabama Crimson Tide, Michigan Wolverines, Georgia Bulldogs, and Cincinnati Bearcats.

On3 reports that following the college football conference championships this weekend, the committee gathered and came to a final decision on which four teams will be playing for the national champion this season. Alabama sits at #1 with a 12-1 record. They are the SEC Champions. Michigan comes in at #2 with a 12-1 and Big Ten Championship secured. Georgia at the SEC Runner-ups and are at #3 with a 12-1 record. Being undefeated this season is #4 Cincinnati and AAC Champions. 

The Alabama Crimson Tide will be taking on the Cincinnati Bearcats at the Cotton Bowl on December 31st. The Crimson Tide and Bearcats will meet for the sixth time in the history of the series, which dates back to 1908. The Crimson Tide has won all five previous meetings. The last of which was played on Nov. 17, 1990 (45-7).

Meanwhile, the Michigan Wolverines will be going against the Georgia Bulldogs at Orange Bowl also on December 31st. The schools have only met twice before with both meetings taking place in Ann Arbor: 1957 (Michigan 26, Georgia 0); and 1965 (Georgia 15, Michigan 7).

Winners of the semifinal games will go head to head in the National College Football Game on January 10, 2021, in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Alabama & Georgia Fans React to the College Football Playoff News

When the news about the College Football Playoff hit the airwaves, fans from both Alabam and Georgia took to Twitter to share their excitement about the news.

“Congratulations, my Bulldogs on a great season!” one Georgia fan declared. “I know last night was tough but I’m proud of y’all and enjoyed every single minute of the game, even the hard parts.”

An Alabama fan also shared, “Got that win last night in Bryant-Denny East now let’s go get that Bryant-Denny West win!!”

Another Alabama fan went on to share their predictions of which teams would be in the National Championship Game. “Alabama vs Michigan in the National Championship!!!!”

Georgia Head Coach Kirby Smart Speaks Out About College Football Playoff Games 

Following the news about the new college football ranks, University of Georgia Bulldogs’ head coach, Kirby Smart, issued a statement. “On behalf of our team and especially our seniors, we are excited to be selected for the College Football Playoff and the opportunity to play in the Capital One Orange Bowl.”

Smart goes on to state that the goal of every college football team, coach, player, and fans is to be one of the four teams to be in the playoffs and the Georgia Bulldogs are extremely honored to be picked. It presents a great opportunity for our fans. Who have been so supportive of our team through the season at home and on the road.”

Smart explains that the opportunity also represents a great challenge of playing a team like Michigan. “[Michigan] has proven to be one of the college football’s most accomplished programs.”
