From two-division UFC champ to Netflix star, Conor McGregor is hitting the screens in just about every capacity. Most fans know the “Notorious” fighter as the Irish fury with a brash attitude. Now, he’s bearing all in his new Netflix docuseries coming this winter. The UFC lightweight and featherweight champ will act as the executive producer of the series which covers aspects of his life. Originally, McGregor teased the project in July, saying that he would call it “Mad Mac’s: Fury Road.”
This week, he made the official announcement.
“I’ll be executive producer on the project. I’m contractually locked into 4, 1 hour episodes that I’ve to produce right now for Netflix,” McGregor tweeted on Wednesday, September 15. “1st 1 hour episode up by January easy. Christmas presents, I’m Santy ho ho ho.”
While it’s unclear if the series has a name yet, it likely won’t be a parody of an apocalyptic film. Sorry, Mac.
The news of the coming series is probably a welcome change in the UFC champ’s life. Recently, Conor McGregor has spent much of his time recovering from his injury during his July fight with competitor Dustin Poirier. The UFC fighter lost to Poirier and sustained a broken leg in the process. Since then he’s switched from crutches and a boot to a cane. Though, from the sound of his winter episode, he may need to switch the mobility aid for a candy cane.
Conor McGregor Loses Temper and Cane During Fight at VMAs
It’s clear from yesterday’s brawl that Conor McGregor is impatient to get back on his feet – you know, without any support. The fighting spirit is as ingrained in him as his red hair. Since taking time off in July to heal, the UFC champ seems to be getting restless to return in the Octagon.
Perhaps that’s why he took a swing at Machine Gun Kelly before the red carpet at the VMAs yesterday. According to sources present at the scene, the scrap had to do with a refusal to take a photo together, a spilled drink and an upset McGregor. The paparazzi captured the rest, including security guards handing McGregor his cane. During the short-lived fight, the 33-year-old fighter decided to let it fall in favor of a better stance against MGK. Fortunately for the singer, it doesn’t appear that McGregor’s fist landed. However, if it weren’t for the quick thinking of several security guards, MGK might have needed to borrow some concealer from girlfriend Megan Fox.
Conor McGregor’s explosive behavior is just another reason he embodies his “Notorious” nickname. Hopefully, during the upcoming docuseries, we’ll discover just how much trouble and triumph his attitude has brought him in his career before and with the UFC.
