Many sports fans witnessed the recent lowlight of UFC star Conor McGregor’s first pitch at Wrigley Field on Tuesday. The amusing footage made the rounds immediately on social media as his pre-game pitch was universally panned as one of the worst ever. Now, another video from his day visiting the home of the Chicago Cubs has gone viral — his terrible rendition of “Take Me Out to the Ballgame.”

The former MMA champion was a special guest of the Cubs yesterday. He seemed to have a good time while at Wrigley Field. But he created a pair of viral moments while taking part in two baseball traditions, and they weren’t for his athletic prowess or singing ability.

McGregor threw out an errant first pitch to start things off. Additionally, during the 7th inning stretch, he belted out a less than perfect version of “Take Me Out to the Ballgame.” He started off well as he hyped up the Cubs crowd.

“What’s up, Chicago!” Conor McGregor screamed to the fans in attendance. “The Mac is back, and so are the Cubs. Let’s go Chicago Cubs!”

Yet things took a turn for the worst as the Irishman began to sing the famous baseball tune. Now, no one expected McGregor to sing “Take Me Out to the Ballgame” perfectly. Lord knows there’s been plenty of terrible celebrity-led renditions in the past.

Plus, Ireland isn’t exactly known for its love of baseball. So McGregor may not have ever even heard the popular 7th inning stretch song. It could explain a lot when it comes to his timing being off and missing the melody entirely at times. We’ve got a feeling he might be better at singing songs and chants about his beloved Manchester United instead.

Conor McGregor Delivers One of the Worst First Pitches Ever

As mentioned, Conor McGregor also threw out the first pitch before the Chicago Cubs took on the Minnesota Twins yesterday. Many fans and sports analysts deemed it one of the worst first pitches by a celebrity ever. As footage of the UFC fighter’s pitch shows, he came nowhere close to hitting his mark.

McGregor’s first pitch missed high and to the right by at least 10-15 feet or so. You could say the pitch got away from the former champ. However, the fighter didn’t think the pitch was that bad, especially considering his recent leg injury against Dustin Poirier.

“The most devastating first pitch ever seen in the iconic Wrigley Field,” Conor McGregor said of his pitch, according to a CNN report. “The venom is there, the power is there. It’s a little off accurate-wise … It was either lob it friendly or aim to take him off his feet. If that was on target, we would have had a problem, I’d say.”

“I’m on the one leg, you can see me based fully on the left leg that was just recently injured,” McGregor added. “I’m happy with that, I’ll take that on board.”
