Why do some professional athletes seem like they only get in better shape over time? We don’t know, but Troy Aikman must have some type of secret.

We get it. Being an NFL star or any type of professional athlete creates a lifestyle that promotes an insane body. But can they, or Troy Aikman at least, give it a rest when they retire?

At 54-years-old, Aikman is out here flexing his abs and making many, myself included, feel like there’s a lot of work to do. In a recent post on Instagram, Aikman posed with NFL legend Jimmy Johnson on a boat during the ex-Dallas Cowboys head coach’s birthday celebration.

“What a weekend!” Troy Aikman writes. “Lots of laughs with great friends reminiscing our time together in Dallas and celebrating @jimmyjohnson4616. We are all indebted to Coach for changing our lives. Next stop, Canton, Ohio! #hof #dallascowboys”

Troy has damn-near 30 years on me and I’m pretty sure I won’t look that good in my life. Never say never, but let’s be realistic folks.

Troy Aikman, Jimmy Johnson Heading to Hall of Fame Ceremony

As mentioned in his caption, Aikman is already thinking about the 2021 Pro Football Hall of Fame ceremony. Not taking place until August, he and Jimmy Johnson will have to wait, but have been in the Hall of Fame for some time now.

Interestingly enough, Troy Aikman actually entered the hall far earlier than his former head coach. In fact, it was just last year that Johnson was inducted after winning two Super Bowls in Dallas.

Meanwhile, Aikman has been donning the golden jacket since 2006, when he was inducted. Both Dallas Cowboys legends in their own right, the two will forever remembered for the 1992 and 1993 seasons that led to the two titles.

Troy Aikman retired as the Cowboys’ all-time leading passer with 32, 942 yards through the air. He added six Pro Bowl selections to boot.

After the 2000 season, Aikman hung up his cleats. Back issues and being released by the Cowboys prompted his decision, but it only took about half a decade before he reached the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
