In week 12 of the NFL season, the Broncos experienced a 31-3 blowout loss to the New Orleans Saints. Now, the Denver Broncos will send quarterback Kendall Hinton’s wristband playbook to the NFL Hall of Fame. Kendall Hinton completed one pass on nine attempts for 13 yards. He also threw two interceptions and zero touchdowns in the loss.
Why would you put a quarterback’s wristband with one of the worst stat lines in the history of the NFL Hall of Fame you might ask? Chalk that up to this being one of the strangest seasons in the history of the NFL. In the week before the 31-3 loss to the Saints, the Denver Broncos lost all quarterbacks on their roster.
Quarterback Jeff Driskel tested positive for COVID-19 during the week before their matchup with the Saints. The remaining three quarterbacks, Drew Lock, Ryan Rypien, and practice-squad quarterback Blake Bortles, were all deemed high risk, and therefore unavailable for Sunday’s matchup. This left the Broncos in quite the pickle, unable to sign a free-agent and having no more on their roster.
Kendall Hinton Steps Up for the Denver Broncos
With no quarterbacks on the roster, the Denver Broncos looked to practice-squad wide receiver, Kendall Hinton for help. The wide receiver had played quarterback some in high school and college but entered the NFL as a receiver. Given his limited time to prepare and his limited experience at the position, no one expected much. Due to the crazy and outlandish circumstances that the situation implicated, the Denver Broncos think the wristband deserves a spot in the Hall of Fame.
He certainly didn’t provide too much either, throwing more interceptions than completions, but he can say something not many Americans can. He can say the sentence, “I completed a pass in the NFL.”
