Turner, a hard hitting infielder, is a key member of the Dodgers’ team as well as a critical contributor to their success. He was yanked from game six of the World Series when his most recent COVID-19 test came back positive. He left the game in the second inning after his test later came in positive, according to Fox News.

It was the team’s first world series championship for the dodgers in over three decades and plenty of reason to celebrate. Turner, however, may have put his teammates and game attendees at risk as a result of participating in the celebration. On Wednesday, He tweeted his appreciation to fans and his excitement in becoming a Major League Baseball champion. He also claims to be asymptomatic and feeling fine despite the diagnosis.

“Thanks to everyone for reaching out!” he says. “I feel great, no symptoms at all. Just experienced every emotion you can possibly imagine. Can’t believe I couldn’t be out there to celebrate with my guys! So proud of this team and unbelievably happy for the City of LA.”

Dodgers Official Backs Turner

Los Angeles Dodgers President of Baseball Operations Andrew Friedman says he supports Turner’s actions, according to CNN.

“I don’t think there was anyone who was going to stop him from going out,” he says. “I there are people around him without masks, that is not good optics at all.”

Major League Baseball officials have yet to comment on the situation. It remains unknown if Turner’s teammates will have to quarantine.

Turner’s actions drew a great deal of social media attention and scrutiny from some. Here are a handful of Twitter reactions to the incident.
