Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson Pens Heartfelt Message to WWE Legend Pat Patterson: ‘Rest in Love’

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson joins the rest of the wrestling world in mourning the loss of wrestling great Pat Patterson. The WWE Hall-of-Famer passed away on Wednesday at 79-years old. Patterson had been battling cancer at the time of his death.

Numerous current and former pro wrestlers took to social media on Wednesday to express their sadness and condolences. Johnson posted a fitting tribute to Patterson on his Instagram page after learning of the tragic news. The Rock calls Patterson and mentor and father figure in the Instagram post.

“Rest in Love, Pat,” he says. “You will be missed.”

Johnson goes on to call Patterson a true trailblazer in the pro wrestling business and says he was instrumental in his own career.

“Rough phone calls to get this morning,” he states. “To tell me our dear family member, Pat Patterson, who was my pro wrestling mentor and father figure has passed away.”

The Rock was joined by numerous other wrestlers and wrestling fans to honor Patterson upon his passing. Like Johnson, other wrestlers say Patterson had a profound impact on their lives and careers.

“Rest in Peace my friend,” The Miz says. “Thank you for always looking out for me, educating me, and making me smile. I will miss your stories, jokes, your honest opinion on my matches whether good or bad and of course those incredible karaoke sessions.”

“Last time I saw you we were at MSG, you told me I had found my way, that I’d made it,” Bray Wyatt says. “You told me that Blackjack would be proud if he could see me. I’ll never forget it. Thank you Pat, it meant more than you know. Rest Well my friend.”
