With both Manning brothers out of playing football and doing their MNF “Manningcast” along with televised games, retired NFL quarterback Eli Manning had some fun with NFL legend Tom Brady on Monday.
The three men have combined for 11 Super Bowl victories and eight Super Bowl MVP awards. That’s a whole lot of winning legacies on Monday’s television screens throughout the world.
While the 44-year-old Brady played older brother Peyton Manning 17 times and has a winning record (11-6) against him, Eli Manning has the slight edge over Brady.
From 2004 to 2019, the 40-year-old Eli Manning held a 3-2 record with two Super Bowl wins over the current quarterback, and he’s quick to let him know it.
Eli Manning Is Brady’s Super Bowl Daddy?
The current Buccaneers quarterback pointed out that he enjoyed his Peyton Manning battles more than the ones against his little bro. Eli Manning’s Giants defeated Brady’s Patriots twice in Super Bowls in 2008 and 2012.
Eli Manning shot back, “I enjoyed all of our games, Tom.”
Damn. Well, that’s one guy who can say he is Brady’s daddy. Not many players out there are in that position.
Eli Manning, who played at Ole Miss, was a tough player. At one point, he never missed a game due to an injury, going 210 straight games from 2004 to 2017 as a starter.
Social Media Fun With Eli Manning’s Fans
One Giants hater took some time to say Eli Manning didn’t win that first Super Bowl. She said it was all the Giants’ defense, and a few realistic Eli Manning fans took her to task.
“Yeap… (WR David) Tyree escaped a sack like 4 times then completed a miraculous pass to himself…”
Ooh, that was spicy. And then there was this.
“Don’t forget about the pass (WR Mario) Manningham threw to himself running full speed down the sideline.”
Ice cold.
One media member observed Brady’s look for the “Manningcast.”
Another quick-thinking Twitter fan said Brady “is about to explain to you the health benefits of having crystals in the house.”
Brady Ball Costly For One Fan
In Sunday’s Buccaneers victory over the Bears, Brady threw his 600th touchdown pass to Mike Evans. The Bucs quarterback is the first quarterback to throw 600 touchdowns, and it only took him 21 years to do it.
The feat didn’t dawn on Evans, and he tossed the ball in the stands to a fan. That fan was 29-year-old Byron Kennedy, an Evans fan who wore his jersey to the game.
Well, Brady and the NFL wanted that ball back. And they got it.
The Athletic’s Greg Auman said the team gave Kennedy a replacement football and a $1,000 gift card to the team store for the historic one.
Sports memorabilia experts estimated the ball to be worth about $750,000.
