Former National Football League star defensive back Charles Woodson is the latest person to take a shot at Juju Smith-Schuster.
The Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver has drawn heavy criticism for his pregame dance routine before his latest game. The Steelers took on the Cincinnati Bengals on this week’s Monday Night Football matchup. In pregame warmups, Smith-Schuster strolled to the middle of the field and proceeded to dance on the Bengals logo. Pregame dance rituals are nothing new to the NFL, but dancing on the opposing team’s crest is considered disrespectful.
Smith-Schuster drew the ire of several Bengals players and was on the receiving end of a hard hit from Bengals Defender Vonn Bell. Several current and former NFL players say the wide out got what he deserved with Bell’s vicious hit.
The Steelers would go on to lose the game to the Bengals by a final score of 27-17. It was the second straight loss for the Steelers who now find themselves in something of a slump. The team is expected to be a challenger in the AFC playoffs but the recent losses have cast doubt on the team’s ability to win a championship.
Charles Woodson Questions Smith-Schuster, Steelers
Woodson, a former first round pick and Heisman Trophy winner, says the Steelers need to get their act together. Using Smith-Schuster’s pregame dance routine as evidence, he says the team may not be as good as they think they are. He took to social media earlier this week to provide his thoughts.
“Steelers gone mess around and Tik Tok right to a wild card,” he tweets.
Receiving a “wild card” would give the Steelers a much lower seed in the NFL playoffs than they hope for. It would also make the road to the AFC championship game and Super Bowl far more difficult.
The Steelers will look to reverse their luck this weekend as they take on the Indianapolis Colts.
