Frank Gore Setting Record for Most NFL Games Played by a Running Back

It’s been a long, hard season for the New York Jets but running back Frank Gore will set an NFL record when he plays on Sunday.

Gore, known as one of the league’s toughest runners with the ball, will play in his 240th career game in the National Football League. That breaks the record held by Lorenzo Neal, who played between 1993-2008.

Prior to the Jets’ game on Sunday, Gore shared a few pictures on social media.

Besides the Jets, Frank Gore has played for the San Francisco 49ers, Miami Dolphins, Indianapolis Colts, and Buffalo Bills.

Frank Gore Goes From ‘The U’ To San Francisco And More

He’s carried the nickname “The Inconvenient Truth” with him since his days at the University of Miami. Gore tore apart opponents with a slashing, forward-pushing style that left opponents grabbing for air.

In 2005, Gore started his NFL career with the 49ers, where he would play for 10 seasons. He spent three in Indianapolis, followed by one each in Miami, Buffalo, and now the Jets.

Looking at his career statistics, a lot of people think Gore is worthy of a place in Canton, Ohio, along with the other greats in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

In 239 games (not counting his 240th on Sunday), he’s rushed 3,698 times for 15,893 yards and 80 touchdowns. He also played in the 49ers’ 34-31 loss to the Baltimore Ravens in Super Bowl XLVII.

Gore was born and raised in Coral Gables, Fla.

Earlier this season, NFL Films put together a highlight reel of his career accomplishments.

Jets Might Enter Off-Season Looking For New Head Coach

For Frank Gore and his other Jets’ teammates, this season has been tough (to put it mildly).

They have not won one game heading into Sunday’s contest against the Los Angeles Rams. Head Coach Adam Gase knows that he might receive his pink slip soon after it’s all over.

Last Wednesday, he talked about how he is failing his boss, Jets’ Chief Executive Officer Christopher Johnson. Gase said that it is unacceptable for his team to be as bad as they are. And more importantly, he says that he is thankful for the time working as the coach of his team.

“He knows how I [feel],” Gase said. “I’ve told him multiple times. He deserves better, especially with how he is with our players, our staff, coaches…anybody involved in this organization. I mean, I couldn’t ask for to work for a better guy.”
