Aldrick Rosas, the former New York Giants kicker, has been suspended from the NFL for four games. Police charged the free agent with three misdemeanors including reckless driving, leaving the scene of an accident, and driving without a valid license. The charges came as a result of a car accident he was involved in this past summer in Chico, California.

The suspension is noteworthy as Rosas is not currently on an NFL roster. He would have to serve the suspension once he is signed to a roster.

Rosas, who the Giants released before training camp began this year, pleaded no contest to the three charges. He avoided jail time but landed three years probation. In 2017, the kicker committed a DUI before signing with the giants. Alcohol was “believed to have been a factor” per ESPN in this arrest as well, as witnesses estimate he was moving at around 100 miles per hour. Police later found him with blood on his hands, feet, and legs.

Rosas’ Career as a Kicker

Regardless of his off the field issues, Aldrick Rosas put together a Pro Bowl season in 2018. After a fairly average 2017 campaign, he tallied up 32 field goals in 2018 with only one missed field goal attempt as well as a 96.7% extra point percentage. This won him the title of First Team All-Pro as a kicker. When his 2019 season resembled his first season rather than his Pro Bowl year, the Giants let him go.

The Jaguars then picked up Rosas at the beginning of the season, but he only appeared in one NFL game in which he injured himself. He made four of his five attempts as well as his sole extra point, but the Jaguars moved him to the practice squad due to the injury. The Jaguars decided to part ways with him yesterday, though they did not disclose whether or not it had to do with the arrest. The 25-year-old placekicker out of South Oregon is in his fourth season in the NFL.
